The Song Fight Bulletin Board

Hey everyone,

Many moons ago, I was part of a project called Purple Tapes. Some recent occurrences have inspired me to revive the project. There is a certain musician....hmmm don't want to call him by name lest he appear like Beetlejuice... I'll just rearrange his first name and maybe give the opposite of last name... Let's call him Yankee East.

Yankee East has been awful to put it mildly. And when a musician is awful like that, it often ruins the music because how do you distance the horrible person from their songs. Not interested in jumping into that debate. But I know I find myself looking at a whole discography of work and thinking "look at all those perfectly good song titles that have been tainted".

Well, let's take the Power back. Not just Power but Gold Digger, Heartless, etc.

Here's the idea- pick a song title from the Yankee East discography and use that title to create a new song. In a month's time, we'll collect all the songs and release then and maybe when someone feels the itch to listen to a Yankee East song, they'll have a less icky option.

So if you want to play along...
1) Pick a song title from Yankee East.
2) Record a new song using that title. DO NOT reference the Yankee East song in your new song. You've got until, let's say, December 1st.
3) Send your song to me (I'll make a new email address for the project and I'll put it in the thread later)
4) New songs!!!

Hey, I'm going to extend the deadline for this some. I'm doing it out of selfishness as I have spent most of the last few weeks either dealing with whiplash or covid. So, let's say December 15th.

I have spent the past few weeks with all of my gear in boxes while a bank and a lawyer pretend to talk to one another, so this is appreciated.

Well, we got 3 songs for this. Which kinda feels like a false start. Hmm. What to do? Do we open up the date until the end of the year. Do we say "do as many times as you want" which was a thing in the original version of Purple Tapes. Or do I post up the 3 entries and take it as is.
