Dear Nur Ein overlords,
Do you mean say, an acoustic guitar and a different electric guitar?
An electric guitar and that same electric guitar acoustically recorded?
Could I play 01 PIANO and 02 ELEC PIANO on my Casio SA-1 and meet the challenge?
Kind regards, etc.

So. I will be playing my song on a Stylophone. Is comb and paper ok for the acoustic version?

I was actually considering this. I think the answer is a pen on a phone.

Or maybe my Stylophone box, which holds all my pens, as a shaker.

yes, that is what we had in mind

I don't know why you would do this, and personally I think it would sound like shit - unless it was an acoustic/electric like Nivs's Ovation - but
technically it would meet the challenge

no. to correctly meet the challenge you would play a normal analog piano and then your Casio (preferably on some synthy-sounding setting so we can hear the difference)

some more examples that would meet the challenge:
- normal drums or bongos and electric drum kit/pad or sampled drums
- upright bass and electric bass (NOT just bass and guitar as they are not the same instrument)*
- Omnichord and autoharp
* and yes I know it's called a "bass guitar" but as an non-guitarist I don't care. they don't sound the same and anybody outside of a rules-lawyering SF board wouldn't say they are the exact same

Whelp, I don’t have an acoustic version of any of my instruments, nor do I have an electric jaw harp… time to start seeing if my neighbor will let me use their piano! NUR EIN!

Please note:
You don't need to couple every instrument you use, just one acoustic/ electric pairing.
If you don't have the acoustic/electric version of your instrument of choice, get creative. Samples would work. Virtual instruments probably. Make a convincing argument. This is musical Taskmaster so I expect nothing less.

I wrote a Taskmaster song for Spintunes once.
All The Information is on The Task
(Re: electric guitar recorded acoustically, regardless of the quality of sound produced, as per the example I listed above: just clarifying with the wording as it could be read either way. I have actually done this in a song before.)

Turned my song in yesterday, but I'm trying to get a video done for it because nobody is going to know what it's about. Niv should make it a music video contest this year. ;p

Sent in a song today as we are traveling to Madison, WI currently. Stopped in Monticello Iowa for dinner. At one of the four restaurants we have seen. Didn’t want subway or pizza ranch, whatever that is and Darrel’s looked sketchy. Can’t go wrong with Mexican.

Hey folks! I'm back with a new voice >:]
Finished writing my song today. We shall see what I can do in terms of recording/producing with what I have, but I think I'll be submitting this year!

For the "electric" part, would recording an acoustic instrument but then running it through phaser / distortion / etc plugins count? I figure one could pretend those are like, electric pedals... and it would definitely sound different than the acoustic

And be warned: this judge, at least, has a scoring system that has lyrics as one of the elements. If you don't post them and I can't tell what you're saying, you will likely get a zero for that. Do you like losing? If not, post your lyrics.

I've said this before but I'll say it again, it seems pretty uncool to penalize people like that when this tournament usually involves at least a couple folks who are not regular Song Fight or even SpinTunes participants, who may not know about the boards, or have signed up, or understand that newly created boards accounts are inactive by default and that they have to email
fightmaster@songfight.org to get their accounts activated. Also there is no 100% guarantee that I will be online all the time to activate new board accounts in a super timely fashion. And even when somebody's account gets activated, their first few posts have to be approved by a pretty small group of moderators, who may or may not see that and get to it right away. You could be penalizing people for a whole bunch of things they didn't even know about or had no control over, which seems pretty unfair.
Maybe before penalizing people who haven't posted lyrics to the boards you could email those folks to ask them so submit their lyrics at least via email...? Or maybe if submitting lyrics is actually a requirement then you could just tell everybody to send lyrics too in the email with their song?

Oh excellent. This makes my song possible.
What makes it impossible is the fact that my computer won’t turn on. My poor 2015 MacBook May have given up the ghost finally

we’ll see if I can fix and finish on time, or if I’ll be shadowing this nur ein…
