Totally fair. Everyone is processing in different ways.

At least half of the original participants have missed at least one round so far, so anyone who comes back with a new entry still has a decent chance...

I wanted to say that we were very pleased to see the title "Stonewall" come up. It was a great reason to write about the ongoing fight for queer rights, and specifically to talk about the events at the Stonewall Inn that were a turning point in queer history and civil rights, a transition (pun not intended) from a policy of hiding and silence to very literally fighting and loudly demanding to be treated fairly. In my lifetime I've seen a huge amount of progress in the acceptance of queer folk in this and other countries, and while that fight continues and while there have been setbacks, I do believe we are moving in the right direction. As a queer man with a trans child, this topic hits incredibly close to me, and I can only hope to join the fight with as much determination as Marsha P Johnson, who was credited as a central figure in the Stonewall riots, who in varying accounts was chucking shot glasses and bricks, and whom we honor by name in our song this week.

I am really enjoying this group of songs, no in-depth thoughts yet, but I did want to first shout out Caravan Ray's super groovy tune

Yeah, that was me. I had been listening to (not reading because reading is A LOT) the book by Anthony Fauci and he was talking about the Stonewall uprising in the context of his work with AIDS while at NAIAD. I thought it would be a good title and I was right!

Most of my lyrics come from a YouTube video describing how to dismantle a stone wall.

Gonna echo what a few others have said -- I really liked this title suggestion and challenge.

I don't currently have a working recording setup, but if I did and if I were participating in this competition, my inspiration would have been to start with a ridiculous number of spoken word pieces, melded together into a HNW track, gradually letting them all fall away until we're left with just one, which would be something (I didn't think it through enough to select one in particular) from a pro-LGBT+ speech or rally, something Stonewall-related.

And given the judging format of this competition, I would fully expect 10s across the board for executing the challenge and 0s for everything else.

ADD - great start and nice groove. Catchy AF (distorted?) organ! Musically this is GREAT, not such a fan of the vocal/lyric though I do like the tone of the spoken part. Nothing wrong with either the vocal or the lyric, just not doing anything for me.

Caravan Ray Nice slinky bassline and skanky off-beat guitar. Why it's almost like I'm describing a post-punk regg… ah I shouldn't worry about it and just be happy. Unfortunately not so keen on the lyric, which is a shame, as I really want to love this through and through. It doesn't inspire me to want to keep listening, whereas the music makes me want to get down and groove. The words are a bit heavy-handed (haha)

Glenn Case- Now this is lovely. Totally captures my attention from the off. It has a few Glenn-Case truisms (soft rock bridge meets harder rock verses & choruses for example), but that's no biggie as the chorus is great. Not much to say, it's a solid groove. (I realise after writing this, mis-used 'truism' here but it's close enough and I don't have time to get it any closer).

Idiot Kings - cute opening. Like the chord progression and then it kicks in. Yes, this sounds great. Suits your voice down to the ground. Has a little about the Pixies musically. I like this a lot, especially the 'breakdown' choruses, it has the effect of making it so sad and yet jolly at the same time. Good stuff. I'm glad you removed the clutter as it lets the song breathe.

Tomorrow - Nice guitar work. This is catchy but the vocalist doesn't sound as confident as he should do, is my impression. Its a great vocal performance, so maybe it's just my cloth ears.

I would be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed with reading exactly one post of feedback, positive to boot, and then came in squarely last. I was under the assumption that there would be constructive criticism from the judges, and we heard from one. I'm not feeling particularly motivated to partake in the last round.

I was surprised, too. I (rightly) don't see the other scores, though, so couldn't comment on overall outcome.

Well to be explicitly clear the results were a surprise, but I'm not commenting due to sour grapes. If I came in last, clearly feedback would be a very good thing!

I'm planning to post reviews - just haven't gotten there yet.

Try to look at it from a different perspective. Your song score was a 6+. That means better than okay after all judges weighed in. There are only three choices: 10, 5, and 0. So a lot of judges had to rate many aspects of your song as good (or, at least, okay) for you to achieve that score.

And there were three competitors who didn't submit a song at all, so how can you be "last"?

Do you like your song? I assume, yes. Mr. Orange liked your song! So there you go.

Sometimes the reviews are going to come after the scores, because people are just getting their scores in under the wire recently. (Not sure why. Life, I guess.) So hang in there (cat meme)—I'm sure there will be more reviews to come. I'm sorry you are feeling sullen. Go write another song!
