Video games, etc.

Have at it, Fluffy.
I just bought Tony Hawk's Underground 2. This is the first time since Quest 64 that I've bought a game without playing it first. Also, the first time I've bought a game on it's release date since Quest 64.
Anyways. I was expecting a slew of product-placement, lame jokes featuring Bam Margera's hilarious Jackassery, and horrible music. The first two are present. You recieve text messages from teammates on a Motorola phone. Napster posters and other crap can be found everywhere. Bam Margera can be seen shooting people with potatoe guns, har har.
I was, however very pleasantly surprised with the music. When I put the game in, I actually turned to my roommate and said "God, the music is gonna be a bunch of crap with like one Ramones song thrown in to appease the old-school crowd", not two seconds after I finished saying that, Rock 'n Roll High School started playing....
Beyond that, I was delighted to hear The Casualties, The Distillers, Frank fucking Sinatra, and some actually decent hiphop (not that MuskaBeatz bullshit). I haven't looked to see what all music is available, but I'm impressed with the developers' dangerous marketing decision to use good music.
As far as gameplay, it's a lot like all the other games. They've added little things, etc. Nothing too big. One thing I'm really excited about is the ability to turn out of low grinds. Since THPS2, if you held the rotate button down as you exited a low grind, you'd turn about 90 degrees and you'd fall. They have finally fixed this to where you can turn out of a grind and ride away, providing a more realistic play experience for people who like to play as if they're really skating.
The game is pretty easy. I had no trouble getting every goal in the first two stages. The goal descriptions are generally very helpful if the goal title isn't.
Anyways, these are my thoughts after a couple hours of playing. I haven't checked out any of the other features they're boasting about - level creator, character creator, tag editor, etc.
My roommate has a PS2 network adapter at his house, which he plans on bringing over soon. Any SF'ers up for a game of SKATE?
