SpinTunes 24 Round 1 Challenge - 'The Game Is Afoot!'
We went all nerdy on our game with the unique stylings of Captain James T. Kirk's original interpretation of 'Fizzbin' that he teaches to his captors on Sigma Iotia Two during the episode 'A Piece of the Action'. Fun Ensues. Enjoy!
lyrics
Fizzbin, Fizzbin by Boffo Yux Dudes
You know, on Antares Four they play a real game. A Man's Game.
Of course, it's probably a little bit beyond you, because it's a game of intelligence.
FizzBin! FizzBin!
FizzBin! FizzBin!
FizzBin! FizzBin!
FizzBin! FizzBin!
FizzBin! FizzBin!
FizzBin! FizzBin!
Let's Play Fizzbin. It's not too hard.
You start by dealing out 6 cards
Except for a seventh card goes to the right
As long as you're playing during daylight.
FizzBin! FizzBin! (It's not very Hard)
FizzBin! FizzBin! (You Get 6 Cards)
FizzBin! FizzBin! (extra goes to the right)
FizzBin! FizzBin! (you play while it's light)
FizzBin! FizzBin! (It's not very Hard)
FizzBin! FizzBin! (You Get 6 Cards)
FizzBin! FizzBin! (extra goes to the right)
FizzBin! FizzBin! (you play while it's light)
Flip card two, except on Tuesdays
Beta Antares gets to choose days
Sometimes the players get really sly
So, the dealer has to keep a close eye
You get a half fizzbin if you get two jacks!
But get another you'll be shown the tracks
You'll have a sralk if get a third
Be disqulified and be flippin the bird.
FizzBin! FizzBin! (Don't get what you lack)
FizzBin! FizzBin! (You get 2 Jacks)
FizzBin! FizzBin! (My friends really cried)
FizzBin! FizzBin! (I'm Disqualified?)
Somehow, to get through this life you need a Royal Fizzbin.
Everywhere, we're all reaching for a Royal Fizzbin.
Now we're playing Fizzbin. It's not too hard
You just gotta watch who'se dealing the cards
Take a look around from your left to your right
Or a Vulcan neck pinch will put out your lights
FizzBin! FizzBin! (It is really Hard)
FizzBin! FizzBin! (Hey, You Dropped a card)
FizzBin! FizzBin! (I feel a pinch on my neck)
FizzBin! FizzBin! (I say what the heck?)
Have you got it yet?
Do you know the rules of the game?
Have you figured out what's it's all about?
If you have, I think you know what's coming to you.

Re: SpinTunes 24 Round 1 Challenge - 'The Game Is Afoot!'
The saddest position in football (soccer).
The loneliness of the third choice goalkeeper by The Dutch Widows
I hate when people claim to be artists, even though they never make art. Where does that leave me, logically-speaking, as a goalkeeper that never takes part? Highly trained I’m a back-up to a back-up for a game that I’ll watch unless something goes wrong. It’s like a form of meditation, dedication, this commitment to not doing the thing that I love
And no-one is saying my life’s not amazing, it’s a first world problem, but it’s tearing me inside out.
The strange existence of a third choice sportsman, I can’t take this anymore. The endless thrills and the high-wire spills of just sitting on the sidelines, keeping the benches warm and they’re warm.
It seems my route to the top of the game has stalled and left me with awful imposter syndrome. It’s not how I dreamt my life would be as a child kicking cans round the streets near my home.
The only thing worse than not playing this beautiful game is to play and turn out to be totally lame.
The strange existence of a third class sportsman, I can’t take this anymore. The endless thrills and the high-wire spills of just sitting on the sidelines, keeping the benches warm.
This third person narrative told first hand, too (/two) removed from glory and fame. Someday people will be singing my name.

Is this even a life worth living? I can’t take this anymore. The endless thrills and the high-wire spills of just sitting on the sidelines, keeping the benches warm, and they’re warm.

PUNK MIMES
Ancient iPad mini no longer lets me export songs.
Here's an Udio ska version that sounds nothing like my demo.
https://www.udio.com/songs/aEKJAGtpDFGbCYfG2cSwWZ
Went to a party
The hostess tried to bore us
With Safeway sushi
And jokes about Chuck Norris
But then I noticed
The tile on the floor was
The perfect pattern
For playing Nine Men's Morris
We placed bits of sushi
One at a time
On intersections
To get 3 in a line
We ordered a pizza
As we knelt on the tile
We played there an hour
We played quite a while
The hostess moved us
Down the corridor-us
To watch some puppet
Hallelujah Chorus
But then I noticed
The carpet on the floor was
The perfect pattern
For playing Nine Men's Morris
Took turns playing pieces
Women and men
On intersections
Then we did it again
Exchanged phone numbers
And we talked between moves
We put on Madonna and
We got in the groove
The hostess panicked
Which didn't quite surprise us
She kicked us outdoors
Just before sunrise-us
But then I noticed
The pattern of her suburb
But we were all tired
No one had drones
So we said “goodbye”
And we drove slowly home

West of Vine - Easy Modes & Cheat Codes
My first job after college was working for the U.S. government (RIP) in DC and living in Arlington, Virginia near Bob & Edith’s Diner (IYKYK). In my first year there (before I met the woman with whom I would build a life) I was having trouble finding my footing as a so-called adult and wasting a lot of time watching bad TV and playing video games with my roommates instead of enjoying a great city and meeting new people. The most frequently played game was Madden NFL (I think ‘95), and I discovered that if you were the Colts, there was a play where you could send running back Marshall Faulk up the right side and get a minimum of 3 or 4 yards every time. So if you were the sort of horrible person (me) who was willing to do that over and over you could slowly march down the field and score. Would you win? Yes. Was it fun? Sigh. With age I have come to see this as a metaphor for [gestures broadly at my professional life].
I was just twenty-two
I was a year short of you
I was plugging away
I was struggling through
I was wasting my youth
I was estranged from the truth
I was a young federale in a diner booth
I was sixteen kinds of sad and
I was playing too much Madden
Now I’m running it up the right side again
And if I do that three more times
It’s gonna be first and ten
Would you call that a win?
Well I guess it depends
But it sure ain’t no way to make a friend
To the right
Coming round that line looking for the light
If it's worth your time it's worth a fight
Easy modes and cheat codes won’t build you a life
Now I’m fifty-one
I’m still allergic to fun
And I never did learn
How to get a thing done
In way that was not giving
Me the need to be forgiven
So I’m banging my head on this wall again
And I loosened up that golden brick
But the room is starting to spin
Now I got one more dollar
And one day closer to the end
I got you, I hope you call that a win

Joy Sitler - Dress-Up
This song is 98% true. I called myself Juliette, and initially misremembered it as Julie-Anne and kept it for the rhyme. And my sister didn't really like Twister that much either.
When I was a kid, I played dress up with my sister
Cause she didn’t like cards and I didn’t like Twister
She thought I had compromised
But I remember her surprise
When I put on a green dress with little white flowers
And a big sun hat and I wore it for an hour
And I told her my name was Julie-Anne
But I guess she didn’t understand
When I turned twenty seven and I said my name was Joy
Or at least it was now that I wasn’t a boy
My sister was thrown off guard
But coming out is always hard
Cause everybody has all these preconceived notions
About your identity and how you show your emotions
When you come out of the closet wearing different clothes
How anyone reacts, well, no one knows
I never see my sister much these days
She’s on the law school grind in a different state
I know she’ll be off to something great
When she passes the bar and graduates
As for me I’m still playing dress up every day
A conventional failure, a disaster gay
Wearing bras and makeup, the whole nine yards
Sometimes I wish that we’d just played cards

Re: SpinTunes 24 Round 1 Challenge - 'The Game Is Afoot!'
This Big Old Endless Sky - I Love a Sunburnt Country
-about this song-
SpinTunes24, Round 1 asked us to write a song about a game.
It's coming to the end of another hot and dry summer here, and we're happy to see the end of it.
When it's this hot and this dry, sometimes all you can do is strap a goon bag to the rotary clothesline and spin it round.
This is a song about our hot dry summer, and about a drinking game - 'goon of fortune'
This song features the beautiful voices of the Ringwood Chapter of the Tough Guy Book Club Choir.
-cheers-
lyrics
you know that it's summer
the dry grass is cracking
under our feet
like our dead coral reef
It's fragile and it is brittle
it's all that we've got
it's life is departed
and its life is dried out
the Hills Hoist is spinning
the Hills Hoist is spinning
and when it stops
someone’s gonna be drinking
get out to the salt lakes
you know it's a must
the heat soaked horizon
distorting yr vision and mind
the skin is so thin
that it's turning to dust
like rust chokes a chain
we’re all choking for rain
the Hills Hoist is spinning
the Hills Hoist is spinning
and when it stops
someone’s gonna be drinking
the suns up 'til nine
and it's sultry divine
take your stand under the line
and we’ll wait for sound of the night
cicadas and crickets
relentless they call
screaming their tinnitus scream
can you dig it
the Hills Hoist is spinning
the Hills Hoist is spinning
and when it stops
someone’s gonna be drinking
and it's dry
and it spins
and we're dust
and it spins
and it's so bloody hot
it's so bloody hard
and I love this sunburnt country

The Pannacotta Army - Covfefe
An imagined game of Scrabble with Donald Trump. Covfefe is of course the (presumed) typo he tweeted in May 2017 that then went viral. A quick google search will give the lowdown for anyone not familiar. Covfefe would score 18 if none of the letters are on bonus squares and you’re not using all 7 tiles.
I managed to coerce my wife Anna to join in on the chorus.
You’re a guy who lacks no confidence
And to win you’ll go to any lengths
But I won’t let you get away with this
‘cause what you’ve laid on the board doesn’t exist
We’ll agreed to disagree
And then consult the dictionary
Covfefe
That's not a proper word
Covfefe
Is it something you misheard?
You can’t put down anything you want
You think you’re so smart, you and your pal Elon
Making up your own rules, that’s how you play
Acting like a child when the game’s not going your way
Don’t say that it scores 18
If you can’t tell me what it means
Covfefe
It’s a seven letter word
Covfefe
That no one’s ever heard
Covfefe

Jim Tyrrell - Game Over
Notes:
There was a fire in the building that houses my music studio. This may be the best version I can record.
She got ahold of my copy of the game of life
Just to make it so I couldn’t take another wife
The pink pegs are gone, now I’ve got to go on
With just the blues
She took the swamps and the islands and the underground seas
My days of playing Stasis have been taken from me
I’ve still got the forests but I’m missing the trees
Like I always do
I went looking for my chess set, pretty sure what I would find
My king stuck in a corner, her queen out on e5
No pawns left for promotion, just lay me on my side
One look at my position and I’m totally resigned
She must have sunk my Battleship, it’s just an empty sea
I can’t play Operation, there’s no water on the knee
I’m down to one red checker, I couldn’t even play Connect Two
My candy land’s abandoned, ‘cause the kids have run away
My Stratego’s incompleto, all the troops are MIA
In Monopoly my properties are gone except for Baltic Avenue
Now my mouse trap don’t work, she took off with half the parts
Can’t even play solitaire, she took the two of hearts
She left the target hanging there but she’s got all the darts
She’s seven moves ahead of me and I don’t know where to start
I won’t get far in Scrabble, ‘cause she took the U and I
It’s enough to make the folks at Parker Brothers cry
I’m just picking up the pieces, at least the ones I can still find
Im looking for Miss Scarlet but I haven’t got a clue
I’d say I’m sorry but she took my Pop-O-Matic too
Now I know the game is over, cause I finally won at playing the fool

Re: SpinTunes 24 Round 1 Challenge - 'The Game Is Afoot!'
Stacking Theory - Andrew Management Issues
The game is Dungeons & Dragons.
The year is 1991.
The campaign party have a Paladin, a Wizard, a Ranger (with a girdle of Frost Giant Strength), a Bard, and a Very Angry Drow Cleric
So the guy who played the Bard was a very annoying person, and his character died (because Bards are useless, right?), and rather than leave him behind, the Drow (my Drow) popped his corpse in her Bag of Holding for 'later on'.
Whenever that Drow got angry, she would reach into the bag, pull out the Bard, resurrect him, and then kill him.
It sounds crazy, but it helped.
Also, there was a very large white clam on display next to where the DM was seated, so when the Drow needed a religion to convert a bunch of Kobolds to, the Church of the Great White Clam was born.
It was the 90's, I'm sorry.
(Don't @ me about the rules of the game)
Do @ me about the amazing Pedal Steel tracks that Sober provided - I'll happily swoon about that talent any time you like.
It’s me
out of the dark
up from the deep
the high priestess
of the great white clam
we’re in this together
but it’s all about me
you may be wise
he may be pure
and she may have the strength of a giant
but i’ve got a bag full of bards
and anger management issues
a natural twenty
they’re worshipping me
i forget exactly
what i came here for
you’d all be buried
if it wasn’t for me
you may be pure
he may be wise
and these bones had the voice of an angel
but i’ve got a bag full of bards
and anger management issues
did you see the sun rise
with your eyes
for the first time, again
do you feel the cool breeze
touch your face
for the first time, again
fill your lungs with
the sweet sweet air
and then you’re gone
gone
gone
gone
back in the bag
out of the dark
up from the deep

We Happy Few - Playing Games
(Verse 1)
You said you’d call, but you never did
Now I’m sitting here, wondering what you hid
You smile at me like everything’s okay
But you don’t mean it, no, you’re just leading me astray
(Chorus)
Oh, we’re playing games, don’t you see?
You’re pretending it’s all so easy
I’m on your side, but I’m not quite sure
If you’re ever gonna let me in for more
(Verse 2)
You throw a glance, then you look away
Like you’ve got something to say,
try to keep up, but I’m losing the beat
Are we talking now, or am I in retreat?
(Chorus)
Oh, we’re playing games, don’t you see?
You’re pretending it’s all so easy
I’m on your side, but I’m not quite sure
If you’re ever gonna let me in for more
(Bridge)
You ever gonna leave
I’ve got a feeling that this is just a show
The curtain’s coming down, but you won’t let it go
I’m trying to follow, but you’re making it tough
It’ll never be far enough
(Chorus)
Oh, we’re playing the games, don’t you see?
You’re pretending it’s all so easy
I’m on your side, but I’m not quite sure
If you’re ever gonna leave it in for more
(Outro)
Oh, we’re playing games…
I’ll never know…
Are we playing games?
I’ll never know….

David Taro - The Hardest Game
Just a tiny point, but my sincere apologies to any American judges for my very British pronunciation of the word 'charades'!
I played tennis with a champion
On the grass at Wimbledon
Knocked him over, two sets to one
Yeah, I barely broke a sweat
Had a go at archery
It didn’t seem that hard to me
I hit the bullseye, three out of three
And I still haven’t missed it yet
But ever since you cannonballed into my life
You have turned it upside down
Like no other game I’ve found
I’ve done nearly everything a man can do
But I’ve never got my head around you
I’ve played board games, parlour games, games with a ball
But love is the hardest game of them all
I played Twister with an acrobat
She was bendy as a Siamese cat
We did battle on the plastic mat
And, man, she could not compete
I’m a wizard at Monopoly
All that money seems to flow to me
I beat a businessman so handily
He fell right off his seat
But ever since I rolled the dice and fell for you
You have spun me round and round
Like no other game I’ve found
I’ve done nearly everything a man can do
But I’ve never got my head around you
I’ve played board games, parlour games, games with a ball
But love is the hardest game of them all
Said, love is the hardest game of them all
‘Cause when you smile at me that way (you know you do)
Do you realise what you put me through
I beat an actor when we played charades
I beat a racer in a Jaguar
I even beat the dealer at a game of cards
But I can’t get the better of you
I’ve done nearly everything a man can do
But I’ll never get my head around you

Re: SpinTunes 24 Round 1 Challenge - 'The Game Is Afoot!'
The Moon Bureau - Carcassonne, and On, and On
Carcassonne is a game inspired by the eponymous French walled city that has been a long time favorite in my family. Players draw tiles that have one or more features: road, field, cloister, city. To claim a feature on a played tile, a player places one of their game pieces on it; such pieces having become known by Carcassonneurs as “meeples.” A meeple on a road is a thief; a field, a farmer; a cloister, a monk; a city, a knight. Gordon = Gordon “Sting” Sumner, who built a “Fortress Around Your Heart” back in the ‘80s.
The monk is in the cloister
The farmer in the field
Like a thief upon the road
My wiles I shall wield
Gordon built a fortress
I would build a wall
If that would place me in your heart
The first among them all
Carcassonne, and on, and on
Fields are green and roads are long
Will I ever be the one
You will put your meeple on
Carcassonne
I’d never build the city
I’d never draw the tile
I’d never claim a single thing
If I could see you smile
Carcassonne, and on, and on
Fields serene and ramparts long
Could I ever be the one
You would put your meeple on
Carcassonne / on, and on, and on, and on

Re: SpinTunes 24 Round 1 Challenge - 'The Game Is Afoot!'
Jealous Brother - Kings in the Corner
Each player's dealt seven with a draw pile in the middle
Four cards lay face up like pancakes on a griddle
A black number 7 goes on a red 8 face up
But none of it matters when the dealer is corrupt
God help us, what's been going on?
A convicted felon and the world's richest man
Are playin' games with us, making up the rules
Petulant children, asinine fools
It's time to put kings in the corner
And put monarchs in the past,
Put dictators in history books
We don't need more autocrats
Players building stacks of cards with alternating colors
Playing with your sisters and your mothers, sons and brothers
Winners play with patience so stop and look around
But nobody wins by hoarding cards, you have to lay them down
God help us, what's been going on?
A convicted felon and the world's richest man
Playin' games with us, making up the rules
Petulant children, asinine fools
It's time to put kings in the corner
Put monarchs in the past
Put dictators in history books
We don't need more autocrats
It's time to put kings in the corner
Put monarchs in the past
Put these jokers in the history books
We don't need no autocrats
COME ON! I said COME ON!

Re: SpinTunes 24 Round 1 Challenge - 'The Game Is Afoot!'
Brian Gray - Hide and Seek
[Verse 1]
There's a little-known walkway,
A neglected wee path scribbled out of desire
To play with a friend.
Shed my best every Sunday,
To play hide and go seek as the sun breathed its fire
Beyond where the roads end.
And I figure it lasted forever, about,
Two brothers eternally quarry and scout.
Adventures befitting of epics to tell,
Til the day that he played just a little too well.
[Chorus]
Hey Fungie, let's go.
The light's failing, and so
Mama's saying it's time to come in.
‘Cause I've counted to ten
And sought time and again.
Here's your cup now, it's over, you win.
So Fungie come back
With a ninety-plus craic
Of tall tales of wherever you roam
And an evening song
About learning the longest
Way ‘round is the shortest way home.
[Verse 2]
Now it's years past that Sunday.
Only dreams could appeal for a revenant scene,
But then what are dreams for?
And that lost little pathway
Gets retraced and refreshed every day by routine
Back and forth to the shore.
Know your innocent beauty, it's rhythm and rhyme,
Have no enemy here but the passage of time.
Only solace to take in the peace of a friend
Knowing nor dread nor hope to attend.
[Chorus]
[Instrumental]
[Chorus]
[Coda]
And Fungie, I'll still
Hold a lamp for you 'til
All the seas have forsaken their foam,
And when songs have grown faint,
Still the moon, she’ll be painting
A road meant to lead the way home.

Hot Pink Halo - A Numbers Game
Directly? Check. Obliquely? Check. Game as in rabbit? Check. Game as in "don't be silly rabbit will get you eliminated": Check. One more entry in my long line of art made about Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh).
Tick tock time’s a-racing now
I’m running late, couldn’t tell you how
I chase my tail around the bend
Fall down a hole that may not end
I shrink so small, shrink down so far
To fit through doors once closed to me
So small the key’s now out of reach
There’s no escape that I can see
I try so hard and not enough
Terrified you’ll call my bluff
And I’ll lose my head trying to win
A numbers game
Down, down, down, go faster now
Keep pushing on until your dreams run out
Unfold the map, there is no plan
No paths are marked, it’s completely blank
I grow so tall and big and high
Searching for that tiny key
My heart folds in upon itself
There’s no escape that I can see
I try so hard and not enough
Terrified you’ll call my bluff
And I’ll lose my head trying to win
A numbers game
Look up! Look up!
Luna’s shining down on us
Grinning like a cheshire cat
A smile so bright
You’ll always find your way back
So I play my cards and hope that it’s enough
It’s all I’ve got, there is no bluff
If I lose my head, it’s ok
It’s just a numbers game

I grow so tall and big and high
Searching for that tiny key
My heart folds in upon itself
There’s no escape that I can see
I try so hard and not enough
Terrified you’ll call my bluff
And I’ll lose my head trying to win
A numbers game
Look up! Look up!
Luna’s shining down on us
Grinning like a cheshire cat
A smile so bright
You’ll always find your way back
So I play my cards and hope that it’s enough
It’s all I’ve got, there is no bluff
If I lose my head, it’s ok
It’s just a numbers game

chewmeupspitmeout - Bored Games
draw a card
roll the dice
it's a pointless enterprise
to carry on another turn
when you've already won
(board games) well i'm so bored of your games

(board games) well i'm so bored of your games
(board games) well i'm so bored of your...
games are fine
for a while
so we spun that plastic dial
and moved our pieces diligently
oh, so equivalently
but i fell into that trap you set
now i'm beset with regret
there's more at stake
than bragging rights
so reset the board
and we'll try again tonight

Vehicles of Beware - The Gambler
Deadlines are great things, they give you something to work towards. When the instinct is to write a jazz-infused Steely-Dan-esque track about a sleazy gambler down on his luck, the deadline will make it happen.
Looking forward to the next one!
Phil
(aka Moosevellous on Discord)
**Verse 1**
Slick Willy wears a suit and tie
He plays the games of chance at night
On the strip and internet
Fat stacks and cigarettes
Let it ride
**Verse 2**
He knows the bookies all by name
He always makes his bets alone
At the track and on TV
He always gets his drinks for free
Listed as a VIP
On his phone
**Chorus**
The gambler
Put 'em down
In your rhinestone
Dressing gown
Try give 'em
The mess around
Up the ante
Giddy up let's do it
**Verse 3**
He gets a scoop on campus lawn
He's got a chance to cross state lines
While he's playing 3d chess
Saying do what you do best
But he can't stop unless he gets
the signs
**Chorus**
**Bridge**
Just one more big score
Make the rounds and pay my dues
Dancers by the shore
Dressed so nice in concrete shoes
It started off as fun
Now I only hate and love myself
Is that just a draft?
Time to move along
**Solo**
**Verse 4**
The betting houses are all closed
The bouncers don't recall his name
On a bench out in the park
Sees a snake and calls a shark
At the 15 minute mark
Its up in flames
**Chorus**
The gambler
Set 'em down
In your rhinestone
Dressing gown
Just give 'em
The mess around
Up the ante
Giddy up let's do it
The gambler
Run out of town
In a shabby
Tumble down
They gone gave him
That mess around
No more bets boys
Giddy up let's do it
Giddy up let's do it
Giddy up let's do it

Celestial Drift - Jigsaw
You reach into the toilet bowl
and find a little tape
You're doomed to die in here unless
you manage to escape
Regardless if you win or lose
you'll never be the same
You're just another player in
these sick sadistic games I make
my sick sadistic games
That saw won't cut through iron chains
but it'll surely cut through bone
And if I torment you long enough
you'll do it on your own
You grab the phone and then you beg me
don't kill your daughter and wife
You'll amputate your lower leg
if you think could you save their lives,
you will if you think you could save their lives
There's poison in the blood that's left
a-poolin' on the floor
So give the man a cigarette
and make use of the gore
You thought that you'd try out something bold
a desperate deceit
But with a hundred twenty volts
I'll teach you not to cheat, I will
I'll teach you not to cheat, that's right
I'll make you play the game my way
my sick sadistic game
You reach into the toilet bowl
and find a little tape
You're doomed to die in here unless
you manage to escape
Regardless if you win or lose
you'll never be the same

Siebass - The Least Dangerous Game
Note: I wrote some funny spoken asides, but I fear I've been leaning on them too much lately, so I decided to leave them out when I sat down to do vocals. Bonus points to folks who recognize bits from the solo. My middle school life was this. DBZ is DragonBall Z, JRPGs are Japanese Role-Playing Games, many greats made by Squaresoft in the 1990s. The references are some of my favorite games of all time.
V1
Get home in the afternoon, and turn on the TV
It's another stupid rerun of DBZ (Goku is a terrible role model and father figure)
After dinner and homework, random encounters planned,
I know that's a contradiction, but the weight of the world rests in middle school hands
PCH
We are all made up of the sum of our traumas
But why hate and love, when I've got Secret of Mana?
I'm sinking 40 hours a week into JRPGs
V2
I know what you're thinking but I get good grades
I never cause any problems and always behave
If I slip up a little, my parents take them away,
So I make no mistakes, I get the shakes without my video games
PCH
Final Fantasy III, is VI in Japan
On my big CRT I'm playing all that I can
I'm sinking 40 hours a week into JRPGs
BR
Maybe I should go outside
Hang out with my friends
But without any of those
Why do I gotta pretend?
I'm gonna beat the whole thing in one weekend.
Solo
Outro
I'm sinking 40 hours a week into JRPGs
(I'm contractually obligated to mention Chrono Trigger here or someone will flay my video game controller tattoo from my living arm)
sinking 40 hours a week into JRPGs
(So was the Esper system better or worse than the Materia system? They both had their strengths.)
sinking 40 hours a week into JRPGs
(If we count action RPGs Super Metroid, Symphony, and a Link to the Past are some of the best.)

SunLite - No Fun!
Everytime we play these games
It seems like no one wins
I place my pawns, you cast your curses
It’s over before it begins
You crown me king then slide right over
We’re playing different games
I shoot my shot while we’re not sober
This always ends the same
Struck out again I guess I’m goin’
Right back to the start
Rolling the dice and goin’ no where
Can’t keep from falling apart
All our cards out on the table
Trying to restart
But we’re too convinced we’re hearing fables
It’s clubs instead of hearts
We’ve both built our largest armies
Instead of longest roads
And never have you ever let me
Use just one cheat code
Struck out again I guess I’m goin’
Right back to the start
Rolling the dice and goin’ no where
Can’t keep from falling apart
Bridge
Struck out again I guess I’m goin’
Right back to the start
Rolling the dice and goin’ no where
Can’t keep from falling apart
I keep on rollin’ critical failures
Right back to square one
Traped in a game and we’re both players
I’m never player one
I’ve never even won
I guess I’ll just be done, it’s no fun!

Sober - Blue Shells
This song is about Mario Kart, and only Mario Kart.
I have always been true
Not because I was player two
And now it seems that everybody
Wants to be Luigi
And I, the youngest of six
In the days of eight and sixteen bits
The others chose to be yoshi or peach
But not me, I was Luigi
And now there’s an army
Of Luigi
Banking blue shells for when we have the need
I won’t ever shed a tear
For the ones in first who now fear
The equalizer that comes for us all
And the mightiest deserved in their fall
So I’m glad to have a team
Who now see the key
The power that each of us has got
To bide your time and take your shot
And now there’s an army
Of Luigi
Banking blue shells for when we have the need
And now there’s an army
Of Luigi
Banking blue shells with three words that start with D
