Cruisin' down the street with a bottle of rum in his trunk
Pats tryin’ to get drunk
He's gonna make it to Atlantic city one way or another, oh oh

Notes while listening for the very first time.
Apothic Red: Sounds like a cool start to a song.
Berkeley Social Scene: I immediately liked the guitars and the melody. The chorus was a little bit of a let down the first time through, which sounds worse than I intended. I think it's more a more muted vocal, even with the doubling, and doesn't really add energy or a positive dynamic change. I like the guitar solo, though, and the chorus works coming out of that much better for me. Maybe it's just me.
The Mellfire Trifecta: I like the arrangement of the drums. And I like the melody. Ooh, nice break after the first chorus. This might be one of my favorite trifecta songs, it sits really well for me. Sparse-ish but still sounding full/good.
Pigfarmer Jr: This isn't factually about my mother but it was inspired by her. I was late in writing and I started over on the recording process because the first attempt was shite. I should have spent more time on this but I don't hate it.

I've had a couple of listens to each song.
Apothic Red: This one feels more like the start of an idea than a fully fleshed out song to me. I thought I heard some vocals there somewhere but they're buried so far by the guitar that they're totally drowned out. This may be just personal preference but if there's only going to be a single instrument in a song, then a clean toned or acoustic guitar would work far better than a distorted tone.
Berkeley Social Scene: That guitar tone at the start reminds me of early Manic Street Preachers stuff. A good song with some really neat ideas. One thing I will say from a mix perspective is that the guitar is probably a little too high in the mix compared to the lead vocal, so I struggled to make the lyrics out. On a positive note, I particularly enjoyed the drum work on this track.
The Mellfire Trifecta: A very interesting entry, with a very unusual chord sequence making up the start of the song. Quirky stuff, but very good.
Pigfarmer Jr: This is my favourite song of this challenge. Fantastic lyrics (albeit tragic!), and fantastic instrumentation. I love the vocal performance here as well.

So I wrote some reviews, lost'em somehow. No big, bring on the cheap.
Apothic Red - Scratchpad demo to something or playing along to an unheard track. Can hear pick strikes and speakers. Ideas, chop'em up.
Berkeley Social Scene - Standard issue, boomy mix on my headphones. All vocals could be brighter, I say. Lacks some fire.
The Mellfire Trifecta - Chorus works better after the stringy bridge thing. Length and structure right, despite time. Does what it needs to do and yet doesn't feel short-changed, Nice acoustic work.
Pigfarmer Jr - In the role, telling it legit. This is my one vote vote. Sounds right all around, inside and out.
Top three get votes. Danke!
