Hi everyone!
It's fantastic that Nur Ein is turning 20. I'm really excited and I'm going to do my best to get in. My schedule is complicated and I no longer have my basement/studio because I moved to Alicante four years ago. I'll miss my drums and amps, but I'll try to bring the best stuff from this room. I hope this amazing number attracts many legendary contestants. Nur Ein!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So many food words in the band names: Sausage, Pepper, Oyster, Chocolate, Caramel, Potato...
I'm excited for a new Nur Ein! Here's the link to the Listening Party on Monday.
Due to work meetings, the start times on Mondays will bounce between 8p and 10p EDT, so you'll have to check for each round the start times.
I'll try and give a heads up in the YT Chat if things are delayed.
Whoo, Nur Ein XX! I'm excited for this milestone year of Nur Ein. I'm also honestly a little relieved not to be running the gauntlet as a competitor this year. I hope folks are cooking up some good songs for us judges for Round Zero! I look forward to hearing what you all come up with!

Happy to be back judging Nur Ein in this milestone year! Friendly reminder to please post your lyrics in the Lyric Archive. It
really does help us when we are deliberating on how to rank the songs.
In the list of previous participants https://nure.in/artists.html the headings are Shadows, Forfeits, Immunities, Mauers.
The word "Mauer" is not in the English dictionary, and the German translation is "wall".
If anyone knows what this means in the context of Nur Ein, I'd love to know.
Ooooh, I forgot about that. I think it's actually when somebody who has immunity DOES NOT submit a song? Erin and I have never submitted a song when we didn't have to so if we have a lot of them that seems to track.
I didn't come up with that name for it and I have no idea if Niveous did or if Mike did, or how somebody came up with it.

I've only ever had immunity once, and I definitely submitted a song the following week, so PFJ's explanation fits better for me. Also, I feel like it makes more sense to have a counter for a type of song submission than for non-submissions.
I will await confirmation from the coiner of the term with baited breath.

You had immunity once, and you submitted a song anyway. Your entry here:
... shows "1" in the "Immunities" column and "0" in the "Mauers" column. Doesn't that track with MY definition, not PFJr's? You entered a song when you didn't have to, so, you do NOT have a Mauer. If you had NOT entered a song that round, you WOULD have a Mauer. (The negatives make it a little confusing.)
Conversely, Erin and I have won immunity 7 times, and every time we have skipped submitting a song, leading to 7 Mauers.
I assumed the point of counting that separately from Immunities was to lightly shame folks who actually used their immunity to skip writing songs, since nominally the whole tournament is about writing songs.

Ah yes, you are correct. For some reason (probably because I'm an idiot) I thought I had a 1 in the mauer column. The headings don't stick to the top of the page so it makes the table hard to read.
Erin and I have won immunity 7 times, and every time we have skipped submitting a song, leading to 7 Mauers.
That sounds like the first line of an annoying song that children would sing on a long car trip
Possibly using a repeating melodic phrase that gets shorter as the song progresses/builds.

Mauer is a German word that means "wall". It is used in the popular trick-taking card game Sheepshead (which is based off the German Schafkopf).
Here's what the Sheepshead glossary has to say:
A player "mauers" when the player has enough power-cards to pick up the blind, and yet passes (whether for fear one's hand is not actually good enough, or worse, one hopes to set up another player to lose). Mauering is considered to be in very poor taste and in some cases players who do it often enough can be asked to leave a game.
Given that "Nur Ein" is also German, it seems like a fitting and concise way of describing a round in which the player has immunity and does not submit a song.
I recall Sam got annoyed when I added the statistic under that name... because he's the biggest mauerer of them all.
