SpinTunes 25 Round 1 Challenge - 'A Day in the Life'
Falcon Artist - School Bus Driver
I am a school bus driver
And I drive the kids to school
Every morning when I pick them up
I tell them about the rules
They jump on board my bus
And I get them to sit down
They put on there seat belts
And there is no clowning around
The journey take me about 2 hrs
To get them to there place
And they always have a sad
Expression on there face
The kids on the bus are boys and girls you see
And they are always good to me
BRIDGE
I am the school bus driver
And I am as jolly as can be
And when the kids see me pull up to the stop
They are as jolly as me
The day has gone by so quick you see
So I go back to the school and pick
Up the kids who are waiting there for me
So I can bring them home safely
CHORUS
I am the school bus driver
I am the school bus driver
That's me
That's me
I am a school bus driver
And I drive the kids to school
Every morning when I pick them up
I tell them about the rules

Wendy Wiseman Fisher - Where the Pumpkins Lie
Verse 1
Blood on linoleum.
In a Ballard kitchen with a busted window,
I grabbed the hatchet beside the stove.
Blood on linoleum, rain on the gutter,
Wrapped him tight in a painter’s tarp to go.
Verse 2
’76 Ford with a rusted bumper,
Trunk slammed shut on a heavy load.
I passed the Space Needle in the rearview mirror,
Southbound lanes where the freight trains roll.
Chorus
From Seattle down to San Francisco,
Gasoline fumes and the wipers’ cry.
A body in bags in the trunk behind me,
I buried him where the pumpkins lie (pumpkin pie).
Coffee gone cold on the dash beside me,
Diesel smoke as the crows took flight.
The seeds were sown in the black, wet soil,
I buried him deep in the autumn night.
Verse 3
Chehalis diner served me burnt black coffee,
Eugene neon buzzing through the storm.
Siskiyou Pass, with the brakes near failing,
Shasta watching like a deformed god.
Bridge
China Beach with the ocean roaring,
Golden Gate shining like a blade.
Seeds in my pocket, dirt on my shovel,
Crows took flight when the grave was made.
Blood on linoleum.
I live on the coast of California. The drive along the western coast of the U.S. is one of my favorite things. After the prompt for this song was posted, I lay down for the night, imagining ideas for stories that could unfold within 24 hours. Shotgun weddings? Landing in jail? I was still mulling ideas over when I fell asleep. At 2:30 a.m. I woke up thinking about the road trip from Seattle to San Francisco. This is a grueling drive to pull off in 24 hours, but it’s very possible, and the sights along the way are iconic. But what would motivate someone sufficiently to make the drive so quickly? An idea came to me, and it was mischievous enough that I laughed and crawled out of bed to compose the dirge ballad that is “Where the Pumpkins Lie.”

chewmeupspitmeout - Deja vu, Deja me
I overslept
But my clock disagrees
Yesterday's news plays on TV
My neighbour waves
Recites his lines
Know them so well that
I mouth them in time
Cos I'm stuck in a time loop
Just like Bill Murray
Deja vu, deja me
Move through the day
Like a marionette
A skipping record
I'm a rewound cassette
Every sound
Remembered routine
Just a parade of
Pre-rehearsed scenes
Im sure this temporal
Anomaly
Is just an admin error
In chronology
So I sing
Deja vu
Deja me
But I'm English
So I can't make a fuss
I'll just carry on
I'm sure that I'll adjust
And at the stroke of midnight
Today will start again
Spent the day with you
So I'm happy to pretend
That its the first time
Deja vu, deja me
Deja vu, deja me
Deja vu, deja me
Deja vu, deja me
I overslept
But my clock disagrees
Yesterday's news plays on TV
My neighbour waves
Recites his lines

Hot Pink Halo - Move Mountains
I wake up and go out to
Lie down and lie down
And settle myself in the air
They won't let me move
It might take too much breath
So I lie here and lie here and lie here
Unfocus and stare
(Stare, stare, stare, stare, stare)
The mountains ahead point up
Into the blue
Each one an arrow
Elevating the view
But the order is off
And the colours are too
Please, oh please
Can you make them move?
(Can you make them move?)
I would move mountains for you
Will you move them for me?
Move them for me
A cure for what ails me
A change in the scenery
I'm not asking much
Just please
Move a mountain for me
(For me)
As the sun sets
They bring us inside
Put us to bed
And I close my eyes
Behind them I see
A sky that is blue
And mountains that point up
Never moved, never new
I would move mountains for you
Will you move them for me?
Move them for me
A cure for what ails me
A change in the scenery
I'm not asking much
Just please
Move a mountain for me
This is a song about tuberculosis, because everything is tuberculosis.
'Move Mountians' charts a day in the life for a patient in a tuberculosis sanatorium at the peak of TB infections in the western world*, before a cure existed, where patients often spent years upon years of their lives.
To quote John Green in his book 'Everything is Tuberculosis':
"The sick were often told to move very little, discouraged even from writing letters or combing their own hair. They were also told not to feel too intensely, or drink alcohol, or have sex — all exciting behaviours that could excite the tuberculosis within.
This meant lying still in beds or chairs, which were wheeled outdoors whenever possible so that invalids could soak in sunshine and clean air. Boredom is a constant theme of memoirs and letters home from TB patients. As one sanatorium visitor wrote, 'I do nothing all day but lie here and stare at the mountains... I wish they would rearrange them a bit.'"
www.goodreads.com/book/show/220341389-e ... berculosis
*You might think that TB isn't a problem anymore, now that we have a cure. If so, you would be wrong. It is still the deadliest disease in the world, but now it mainly affects poor countries thanks institutionalised racism and an unwillingness from rich countries to fund programs through foreign aid. Please be mad about it. www.pih.org/article/what-is-tuberculosis

Re: SpinTunes 25 Round 1 Challenge - 'A Day in the Life'
Boo Lee Crosser - Exit Signs
(Verse 1)
Well I saw the devil today
He pulled a gun on me as I left my hometown
And I don’t what he exactly wanted
And in way I couldn’t start to figure it out
But no one’s as ruthless as this and no one’s as cunning as to the point of no return
But I know there’s something in there
Beyond the horns of the mask
And the myth of a great escape
(Verse 2)
Started moving around
On the concrete of a blood-filled fantasy
And for a moment I felt better
But it was interrupted by my need to breathe
I walked past the abandoned churches
In an effort
to get back to my car
And Jammed my key in the ignition
But got distracted by the bullet in my arm
(Chorus)
Hold him down
Don't bite your tongue
Feel the silence of the engine humming on
Don't let him stand
Take that out
What's your name and can you tell me what the Hell this was about?
(Verse 3)
Saw the exit signs
Of a hallway
Cased and based in white
In that moment I was laughing
And I was crying when I thought that I could die
They couldn't look at me
Without looking like God had sealed my fate
And from the chaplain in the corner
I could tell
that was a grave mistake
(Chorus)
Cause I can’t see
I’m hemorrhaging
Find the entry wound and stop bleeding
Knock him out
Don’t let them win
Find somebody who can tell me how you fought to live
(End)
Well I saw the devil
He pulled a gun on me as left my hometown
I have always liked the idea of resiliency. I’m hoping to capture some of that here. In this song, the narrator is the victim of a shooting but we don’t know the circumstances behind what happened. I hope you enjoy it. Thank you for considering me.

SEE/MAN/SKI - The Hermit
shut the windows
close each door
don't need a reason to be ignored
living out the day
on my own
cut the cord to the great outdoors
stay inside, miserable and bored
living out my day
all alone
I'm a hermit
and I can't quit
I'm a hermit
try to reach me on the telephone
you'll be sent to the busy tone
living out the day
undisturbed
push your letters through the door
they'll build up in a pile by the floor
living out my day
unperturbed
I'm a hermit
and I can't quit
I'm a hermit
never eat out, only order it
get all my kicks from the internet
won't leave the house
don't see the point it
won't wait waste time with society
the human race is lost on me
I'll walk through time
reclusively
I'm a hermit
and I can't quit
I'm a hermit
I decided to take a view on a recluse, who refuses to leave the comfort of his living room. Being a geek it was really just my natural state, having a child has forced me to leave that bubble (reluctantly

Re: SpinTunes 25 Round 1 Challenge - 'A Day in the Life'
☀bucket - Nickels to Roll
I got to time today
I got no time to play
I got no time to write
I do it anyway
I got no time to snooze
I got to time to lose
I got no time to kick back
And take off my shoes
Today I wake up at seven I got a conference at 8
I gotta chug down my coffee cause I can never be late
I gotta pick up my car because it’s been in the shop
Cause it is just like me, it can never stop
I gotta drive to the school, i gotta drive to the doc
I gotta drive to the pool always racing the clock
My children ate all my food I gotta hit up the store
They'll give me bad attitude if I don’t get em some more
I got no time to get old, I got laundry to fold
I got a job to hold, got records to be sold
I gotta bring in the gold, I got my nickels to roll
I’ll spell it out in bold I’m so
Busy busy busy busy
Busy busy busy, busy as a bee
Busy busy busy busy busy as can be
Busy busy busy busy busy busy busy busy
Busy busy busy busy busy busy busy busy
Busy busy busy busy busy busy busy busy
Busy busy busy busy busy busy busy busy
Busy busy busy busy busy busy busy
I got no time today I got to time to play
I got no time to write I do it anyway
I got to time to snooze I got no time to lose
I got to time to kick back and take off my shoes
I get done cause I’m a winner wipe the counter after dinner
Then I’m watering the flowers then I gotta take a shower
Then I gotta sweep the floor, and then I gotta lock the door
And when I get up in the morning I will do it some more
I got the power of will or maybe caffeine pills
Feel like the Energizer bunny cause I never sit still
I think I overcommitted though I’d never admit it
And even if I did my schedule would not permit it
I got no time to get old, I got laundry to fold
I got a job to hold, got records to be sold
I gotta bring in the gold, I got my nickels to roll
I’ll spell it out in bold I’m so
Busy busy busy busy
Busy busy busy, busy as a bee
Busy busy busy busy busy as can be
Busy busy busy busy as a bee
Busy busy busy busy busy busy busy busy
Busy busy busy busy busy busy busy busy
Busy busy busy busy busy busy busy busy
Busy busy busy busy busy busy busy
This song is borne of my experience trying to write a song. After a long day of hitting up the hardware store, going to work, doing a load of laundry, prepping food, taking my kid to the dentist, I realized that the most 'within 24 hours' song I could do was just to describe how my life feels sometimes. "I got no time to write, I do it anyway" I type into this submission email at almost midnight. Busy busy busy indeed.

This Big Old Endless Sky - It Only Felt like a Minute
i’m here again with a strange sense of deja vu
was that really 24 hours?
it only felt like a minute
get up get dressed go to work
i slave and slave away
it doesn’t feel like I’m in it
go home relax for a bit
go to bed wondering
if that’s all there is
wake up
wake up
wake up
was that really eight hours?
it only felt like a minute
i’m here again with a strange sense of deja vu
was that really 24 hours?
it only felt like a minute
get up get dressed go to work
i slave and slave away
it doesn’t feel like I’m in it

Re: SpinTunes 25 Round 1 Challenge - 'A Day in the Life'
The Pannacotta Army - Leaving LA
There are no stars
Only tail lights of cars
On Ventura Boulevard
All the stores are closed up
I’m leaving LA
Said my few goodbyes today
Heading up to San Jose
They say the air is cleaner
I’m not running away
But I’ve got no reasons left to stay
I’m just moving on
It’s what I tell myself driving along
I’ve heard that song before
It’s 4am
The sun will soon be up again
Pull off for some gas and then
I’ll be back on my way
Still miles to go
So I turn up the radio
Watching the scenery change
But every station sounds the same
Maybe I’ll get on a plane next time
The song's a mini road-trip. An itinerant person moving from one city to the next is in denial about the failings (relationship/career/..?) that have led to them leaving. While driving they speculate on the futility of this cycle and if a more significant change might break it.
There are no stars
Only tail lights of cars
On Ventura Boulevard
All the stores are closed up
I’m leaving LA
Said my few goodbyes today
Heading up to San Jose
They say the air is cleaner
I’m not running away
But I’ve got no reasons left to stay
I’m just moving on
It’s what I tell myself driving along
I’ve heard that song before
It’s 4am
The sun will soon be up again
Pull off for some gas and then
I’ll be back on my way
Still miles to go
So I turn up the radio
Watching the scenery change
But every station sounds the same
Maybe I’ll get on a plane next time

gammammannn - Just Walk
[[INTRO]]
I have a friend thats been here a while
They kinda just appeared and stuck by my side
They kinda make me nervous but thats alright
Their name is... GLOOPY
[[Steve 1]]
Goin' on a little walk today ay
Plannin our route through the waterways
I'll be walkin 'round with my slimy friend
Walkin' round with they's slimy trail
We'll pass by Spacewalk Bridge
On the way to Pinewood Falls
Then we'll rest on the edge of a cliff
Then we'll walk hooooooooome
Oooh and I say the weathers lookin grayyyyy
But gloopy reassures in response all they had to sayyyyyy was....
[[DROP]]
Feelin' uneasy?
Doesnt matter, just walk!
Really really easy
No conviction just walk
Feelin' uneasy? (passed a cat on the road)
Doesnt matter, just walk! (i can see chimney smoke)
Really really easy (quite a cozy walk through the snow)
No conviction just walk (although...)
[[Steve 2]]
Finally made it to Spacewalk Bridge
It spans quite the ▷
With a lovely view, on both sides
Avoidance guides every step I take
Statikk an earthquake hit the pipes
Uhh-- which nobody likes!
I collapse on the other side
And so does the bridge behind me...
Oooh and I say my thoughts are lookin grayyyyy
But gloopy reassures in response all they had to sayyyy was...
[[DROP]]
Feelin' uneasy?
Doesnt matter, just walk!
Really really easy
No conviction, just walk
Feelin' uneasy?
Doesnt matter, just walk! (like a freight train on the freeway)
Really really easy
No conviction, just walk (like avoiding cracks on the pathways)
[[Larry]]
And at last we arrive
Near the waterfall nearby the pine
A lonely firepit invites us
Might as well light a little fire
Gloopy's starin' at the fire while im distracted
Starin' at the waterfall
Thinkin' bout how everything's gone well
Just to turn around to see the fire's bigger
And its growin' faster and faster...
What have I done!?
How the fuck could I let this unfold!?!
[[DROP]]
Feelin' uneasy?
Doesnt matter, just walk!
Really really easy
No conviction just walk!
Feelin' uneasy?
No conviction just walk!
Really really easy
No conviction just walk!
[[OUTRO]]
No conviction just walk, just walk just walk just walk
No conviction just walk
No conviction just walk, just walk just walk just walk
No conviction just walk
We'll walk past spacewalk bridge
Light a fire at pinewood falls
Then i'll walk off the edge of a cliff
Dont need to walk home
Song bio, This is a song about a walk of avoidance, as the song goes on it devolves into chaos, and the events that take place become more extreme, with Gloopy as Avoidance to represent a force driving the protagonist further from reason and further into reflex and first thoughts.
This song ended up much more experimental and dark than I first expected when I came up with the idea, but either way I think it was to its benefit.

Huge Shark - Fine
I got up by candlelight
and traced the writing on the wall,
knowing it would fade by night —
put on a smile and stood up tall.
Morning sun cannot dispel
the knowledge that our love will go.
Be it two or twenty thousand bells,
life to earth; warm blood to snow;
our time will end.
I can see the future, but it’s still today
and your hand is still in mine.
I will hold you closer through the afternoon.
It’s fine…. our time…
Sunbeams glide across your face.
Shadows chase the shifting sand.
Silhouette of curtain lace
falls across your drifting hand.
Our time will end.
I can see the future, but it’s still today
And your hand is still in mine.
I will hold you closer through the afternoon.
It’s fine…. our time…
There’s nothing that says
that we can’t change;
but the sun has set —
nothing remains.
I will love you anyway:
Breath and rhythm, blood and hum.
How could I let go the light
just for knowing dark will come?

Good Guy Sôjàbé - Justice Never Sleeps
The sunrise casts a fire, but theres ice within his veins
Eyes forever hidden but you can’t escape his gaze
Time to hit the skedways, scanning for some creeps
Barely time to rest; he says justice never sleeps.
8am a call comes in, he’s closest to the scene
Nothing he hasn’t seen before, some juves are stealing things
He raises his lawgiver and switches to heat seek
In seconds they are wasted and heading to resyk
He doesn’t stop to care, he’s stone faced to the core
And in this town he is
The law.
Judge and
Jury
Execution from a holster
Fascist
Justice
Golden eagle on his shoulder
The afternoon is violent, he’s busy bagging perps
A man goes mad from future shock and gets what he deserves
Civilian stands up to him, he books em being for being rude
Another unlucky prisoner for the isolation cube
As darkness falls he’s riding, there’s a block war going on
He does what he was born to do, reaches for his gun
The streetlights show the slabs awash with different shades of red
The sun is coming up again, he’ll sleep when he’s dead.
A day in the life of one Mr Joseph Dredd.

Re: SpinTunes 25 Round 1 Challenge - 'A Day in the Life'
The Alleviators - Right By You
V1:
Before the sunlight hits the trees
He’s searching through the shadows for his keys, and
Careful not to wake them from their sleep
He rises for the labor of the season
He’ll do his part
(He feels it in his knees, and)
His family in his heart
(And they’re the reason)
Ch1:
And he swears, “I’ll do right by you,
Anything, to do right by you”
V2:
She’s making lunch and doing braids
She keeps a smile but knows they’re running late, and
Reminds her daughter she is brave
Sends her off to school and hits the pavement
Around and round
Giving what she’s able
No crashing out
‘Till dinner’s on the table
Ch2:
And she swears, “I’ll do right by you,
Break in half to do right by you.
Put the world in your hands.
I’ll do right by you—
A life I never had”
Bridge:
The years fly by but the days go slow
Chasing towards a future unknown
V3:
Mama says it's time to go to sleep
“Take your vitamins and brush your teeth”
But she always wants another story
‘Cause this hour is the only time she has with mom and dad
Chor3:
Just wanna be right by you
I wanna be right by you
Just wanna be right by you
(We’ll do right by you)
Just wanna be right by you
(Anything, to do right by you)
Just wanna be right by you
(Everything, to do right by you)
Outro:
Before the sunlight hits the trees
He’s searching through the shadows for his keys, and…
About, from Beka: We were inspired to write this about a day in the life of my family. Right now, our schedules are crazy: my husband gets up at 2:30am to work a long shift at a hard labor job, I get the kid to school before hustling 1-3 desk jobs depending on the day, and then for a shining hour or so we are all together in the evening - before my husband goes to bed at about 7pm and we start all over again. At its heart, this song is about a family who loves each other very much - parents willing to make hard sacrifices to take care of their kid, and a kid who just wants to spend time with them. We hope that love comes through. Shout-out to my 6-year-old teenager, Robin, who graciously agreed to be a guest vocalist (her first recorded song ever!)

Re: SpinTunes 25 Round 1 Challenge - 'A Day in the Life'
David Taro - Rosettina
Daybreak on Via Luccoli
In this ancient town by the sea
Rosettina traces the lines in her face
She’s as old as a woman can be
On days the sun runs like honey
A memory is all she needs
Papa pressing the case for the convent
Rosettina saying, “No nuns for me”
[chorus]
Rosettina, Rosettina
Rosettina, would you say
It’s a day in your life
Or your life in a day
When everything changes
And only your memories remain
After breakfast, she takes down the photos
Dog-eared and monochrome
Left in a will by a photographer friend
Who died many decades ago
They show a young girl in Portofino
Who used to hitch down country roads
To hang out in bars with the Hollywood stars
She met Bogart, Bacall and Bardot
[chorus]
At noon, Rosettina takes coffee
Under the stripy facade
Of the old cathedral of San Lorenzo
In the bustle of tourists and cars
She sees how her city keeps changing
While the names on the streets stay the same
Buildings built on the bones of buildings
Then they do it all over again
[chorus]
Her family comes in the evening
Four generations are there
Aged twenty-one she met a pharmacist’s son
It was a Genovese love affair
And when they go, Rosettina relaxes
Soap operas and the nine o’clock news
Imagines a time when she will leave them behind
‘Cause we’re all just passing through
[chorus]
The round one prompt landed in my inbox whilst I was travelling around Italy. Not sure if that comes through in the lyrics at all? We stayed in an apartment in Genoa where the AirBnB host told us about her grandma, Rosettina, who had lived there years before. Some of the details come direct from that, some are inspired by our travels in general. Ultimately it's a fictional portrait, but kind of dedicated to the real Rosettina, who sounded like a champion.

Re: SpinTunes 25 Round 1 Challenge - 'A Day in the Life'
Jealous Brother - A Backpack and Two Sandwiches
I got on the train in Minnesota
One backpack and two sandwiches in hand
Mississippi River to Wisconsin
Milwaukee and Chicago down those tracks
Passengers they get on and some get off
Attorneys, Mennonites and kids in love
Grace sat down in the seat beside me
She said open up those shades and let in the sun
There’s a daddy going down to to Louisiana
Gonna see his boy play ball
My plans weren’t gonna take me quite that far
Steppin off the train at union station
Gonna walk that miracle mile
Gonna talk to a stranger at the Congress Hotel bar
She traveled all the way from British Columbia
She liked to take vacations on her own
She was sure that old hotel was haunted
She’d photograph those ghosts with her phone
Her tattoos ran all the way down her leg
The sides of her head were cleanly shaved
I showed her my ten dollar bill from up north
She said put it through the wash, it comes out ok
He was was a guitarist from the city
He said both his kids play music professionally
I said my god I know who they are, Peter
They play in the solo band with Jeff Tweedy
Then we walked to the lake by the old air strip
To see Neil Young
We paid a pretty penny to get inside
The opening act pulled down his pants
And he said "F-You" to Trump
Then good old Neil he sang "Hey Hey, My My"
Me and Jon and Lou we went to high school
But we aint’ never going back to that shit hole
Me and Jon and Lou we went to high school
But we aint’ never going back to that shit hole
Electric bikes with neon lights
Majestic fountains in the night
Tin soldiers, Nixon’s on his way
Another school shooting today
Another school shooting today
Another school shooting today

Re: SpinTunes 25 Round 1 Challenge - 'A Day in the Life'
Nathan Joe Long - Remember Monangah
December 6 1907
Over 300 men some with wives and bairns
Walked through hell's gate
Down mine 6 and 8
To meet their fate at 10:28
And there's nothing fair about Fairmont coal
When a head lamp flame lights the whole damn hole
Taking all those souls
Leaving us below
To remember Monongah
Whiskey come and open my eyes
light this fire before the ember dies
Wash this pain right out my back
Bury my bones and drag them
Back from Monongah
Monongah's maw will swallow me whole
For a drip of scrip
And a worn out soul
Pray your caged bird keep his tune
And the white damp's dry
Meet me under a star lit sky
Just like you did sneaking out on the Fourth of July
I wish you coulda seen her grown
She's everything you ever hoped
With her I never feel alone
Except at night
Please don't go
You know I love you so
And I'm nine today
But won't stay that way
Cuz midnight makes me 10
That's something I've never been
If the old hen lays
And my apples did keep
And my patchwork dress dries from the creek
We could make a two stack cake
And sing our songs
For as long as it takes
For my birthday to have a cake
It only takes all day
You have to stay with that back that aches
We could sing so loud and make Ma so proud
And I bet that she could hear
If we sing it high and clear
I know ten's gonna be my year
So please just stay right here, just today
Every year there's a peal of bells
To mark the time when the miners fell
How many we'll never know
Raised up but buried low
With faces only God can see
May they find comfort
In our memories

glennny - I Have Until Midnight
It’s only 2:30 pm, and I don’t want to sign
I just can’t deal with this now,
and I still have got some time
I just watched a little television,
But the clock says it's 5:40
I guess that was 6 side-splitting episodes of Rick and Morty
Who do you think you are to try and to control me?
You have the nerve to serve me more than a fair serving
It’s no big deal
I’ll deal with it a little bit later
I don’t feel right
I need my head on a little bit straighter
It’s 7:45 now, I hear Geddy is in the mood
another YouTube rabbit hole
I think I really need some food
Pad Thai and a cherry Coke
It’s now 10:15 on a Saturday night
I never wanted all the chaos
I never wanted the fight
Who do you think you are to try and to control me?
You have the nerve to serve me more than a fair serving
It’s no big deal
I’ll deal with this a little later
I don’t feel right
I need my head on a little bit straighter
It’s 11:11, the words are dancing on the page
Why can’t I get it over with?
Try and move on to the next phase
Who do you think you are to try and to control me?
You have the nerve to serve me more than a fair serving
It’s no big deal
I’ll deal with this a little later
I don’t feel right
I need my head on a little bit straighter
Two minutes to midnight
All the time has run out
I’ll sign the paper
I’ll do it now
It’s only 2:30 pm, and I don’t want to sign
I just can’t deal with this now,
and I still have got some time
I just watched a little television,

Re: SpinTunes 25 Round 1 Challenge - 'A Day in the Life'
Flintsteel - Tau Zero
trapped on a journey
out in far open space
any chance of a rescue is gone
relative stasis
as time, it dilates
we will do what we must to live on
we travel light years
eons pass without a trace
theyre mere moments in our fleeting lives
deceleration shot
humanity erased, that is
at least if we do not survive
we can't go on like this
drifting away from our former lives
without a future to seek
we’ve got no reason to stay alive
millennia pass in blinks
everything known before is gone
the only path is through
if we can just hold on
someday we'll be
(home)
through the darkest of nights
nomads thus fated to roam
we'll find a new world together
out in the unknown
once weve arrived
we'll do it right
utopia, our own
cross the boundaries
of space and time
we are coming
a siren warning
of impending collapse
of this galaxies imminent end
we’ll ride it out
somehow outside of the expanse
beyond all that you can comprehend
and then it happens
as we accelerate
the universe ceases to be
then in an instant
all things re-propagate
we’re freed from harm by abundance of speed
cascading endless night
in awe as cosmic might performs
the dance of dark and light
infinite cycle, life and death reborn
we’ll weather anything
to win our species final fight
a recreated world
suited for us to bring to life
(loosely) based on 'tau zero' by poul anderson.
tau zero is the story of a space mission gone awry as the ship gets stuck accelerating, increasing the time dilation felt by the crew more and more as they come closer to the speed of light. they eventually come to know that they must be the last remnants of humanity as thousands, then million of years pass. this portion of the story involves the big crunch, the end of the galaxy and the springback big bang that results.
i just liked the idea of doing a time dilation story! i believe this part actually takes place over a couple of hours.

Bob Voyg - A day in the life of a Mall Santa
I, masquerading as the giver of good times
I, hidden features in a cloud of pure white
they ask for treasure
and they ask for peace
they ask for certainty
but never want to look at me
with all the guardians a’spying me
with judging eyes
I, wishing time away and hiding out in plain sight
I, represent the space where all the dreams take flight
give me what i want
you’re the one with everything
everything
give me what i need
i’ve paid the price by being here
on your knee
on my knees
what i need
what i need
I……i……..i…….i……..
This song is based on a true story.

Governing Dynamics - Outtahere
Well, hello mean sun. I beat you by an hour or three,
by one film and one pot of coffee.
No need for sleep when I've no job,
no one numb enough to count on me.
Midnight to sunrise,
Wake to alarms no one else hears.
I can read 'em loud... and clear.
I think I gotta get out of here. Good idea!
I think I gotta get out of here. Yeah, okay.
Can't walk it back, can't sleep it off.
Sunrise to noon time, try shaking the cycle.
Fumbling for an open door
Only me to talk to, 'cause I keep my enemy near.
it probably won't help, but what the hell.
I think I gotta get out of here.
Yeah, more than time is wasting.
I think I gotta get out of here.
Are you tired of the blood that you've been tasting?
After noon, hope igniting
Sun down soon, bloodied but fighting
If I'm gonna fade first I'll burn bright.
Hate to say but I relate to a slowly dying light.
"So the places you took shelter
Are the shadows you now fear?"
When you say it like that, sure, okay.
I think I gotta get out of here.
Take the wheel and turn the ship right
I think I gotta get out of here.
Catch the wind you'll be gone by next light
I think I gotta get out out here.
Shake it off and start tonight
Shake it off and start tonight
I think I gotta get out of here.

OutLyer - HEY ALEXA
8am you ask about rain
9am you ask me again
10am Burger King hours of operation,
order more temptations
How far is the sun?
Why is the sky blue?
How far is the moon?
Hey Alexa I could really use some help
I did something that was not so good, and my neighbor saw me like I knew he would (x2)
10pm I’m out at a foundry
1am police haven’t found me
4am I’m out of the county
8am (8 am)
Hey Alexa I could really use some help
I did something that was not so good, and my neighbor saw me like I knew he would (x2)
Hey Alexa thanks for all the help
I did something that was not so good
And I got away like I knew I would
