First Post – Two Versions of a Song Lyric

Post by Lavenderpython »

Hi everyone

This is my very first time sharing lyrics here. I wrote two versions of the same song idea — one more direct and emotional, and the other more metaphorical. I’d love to know which one feels stronger to you.

Version 1- "No One Knows"

Verse 1
They say I’m strong ’cause I wear a smile
But they don’t see what I hide all the while
Whispers rise the second I leave
Call me “too good,” yet they don’t believe
I give my all, but it’s never enough
They never know this life is tough

Pre-Chorus
I sit alone on a rooftop high
Whispering dreams to the midnight sky
I cry in the dark where no one sees
Even the flowers know more than these

Chorus
No one knows how small things break me
How one kind word could remake me
They called me “sweet,” then let me bleed
Stepped on my love like a fallen seed
But till that day, I float in rain
And pray to God to heal the pain

Verse 2
I drown in thoughts, but not to die
Just to escape what’s outside my eyes
I hide my tears beneath the rain
So no one hears my quiet pain
I love the rain, the flowers too
Clinton’s songs that pull me through
Hope is faint but it still remains
Maybe God will light my days

Chorus (repeat)
No one knows how small things break me
How one kind word could remake me
They said I’m kind, but left me behind
Crushed all my love with hearts unkind
But till that day, I float in rain
And pray to God to heal the pain

Outro
So if you see a girl who’s “fine”
Ask if her stars still sometimes shine
For smiles can lie, and hearts can fall
Yet softest voices carry all

Version 2- "She has Magnets in her"

Verse 1
They say I’m strong ’cause I wear a smile
But they don’t see what I hide all the while
Whispers rise the second I leave
Call me “too good,” yet they don’t believe
Magnets pull the pain inside
Every secret, nowhere to hide
I give my all, but it’s never enough
They never know this life is tough

Pre-Chorus
I sit alone on a rooftop high
Whispering dreams to the midnight sky
I cry in the dark where no one sees
Even the flowers know more than these

Chorus
No one knows how small things break me
How one kind word could remake me
They called me “sweet,” then let me bleed
Stepped on my love like a fallen seed
Magnets in my soul draw storms I can’t control
But till that day, I float in rain
And pray to God to heal the pain

Verse 2
I drown in thoughts, but not to die
Just to escape what’s outside my eyes
I hide my tears beneath the rain
So no one hears my quiet pain
I love the rain, the flowers too
Clinton’s songs that pull me through
Hope is faint but it still remains
Maybe God will light my days

Chorus (repeat)
No one knows how small things break me
How one kind word could remake me
They said I’m kind, but left me behind
Crushed all my love with hearts unkind
Magnets in my chest pull sorrow with no rest
But till that day, I float in rain
And pray to God to heal the pain

Outro
So if you see a girl who’s “fine”
Ask if her stars still sometimes shine
For smiles can lie, and hearts can fall
Yet softest voices carry all

Thanks for reading!🥀 I’d love to know which version you like better, and any thoughts, ideas, or even small edits you think could make either one stronger ♡.
