This is a very self-congratulatory title, it's going to be hard to come up with something that isn't a novelty song. I'm not sure if I'm participating in this one, but I'll try to work on some lyrics today if I think I can do something with it.

It doesn't have to really mean anything, for me it's just the words for the chorus hook. If I manage to find one that I like, then I'll try to figure out what the verse is trying to say.

I HEAR AND OBEY.

Okay, so first a summary of my journey: I had two half-baked ideas: 1) another DC Prox track, about a variety of creative processes, and 2) a nerdcore Dr Proximo track talking crap about Tyler "the Creator". I wasn't enthusiastic about either, and decided I'd skip this round. When I made that decision, I found myself feeling relieved, and realized I'd been getting a little burnt out, taking part in several songfights and REMs recently.

Then came the call for extra entries, and, well, you know, I had a whole week to relax...

I resurrected the DC Prox track I was working on, and I wanted to explain a little about the direction I'm going lyrically (even though I'm not quite finished the lyrics as of this writing). The first line is "I write the songs and the stories". This is intentionally and openly a reference to "I Write the Songs", a song which is often included in lists of Bad Songs, in part because it sounds so arrogant on the surface. Apparently, however, the actual narrative of the song depends on paying attention to the line "I am music", and understanding that the song is speaking from the perspective of the personification of music itself, a creative force. Well, I'm not going in such a high-concept direction, but I am using it as a stepping off point for celebrating the creative process.

Additionally, the end of the second verse is an altered version of one of my favourite quotes: "Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can", by Arthur Ashe.

As for the planned diss track, I've had plenty of unkind things to say about Tyler on social media, and I feel justified, but I don't have the energy to hate on him for an entire song. It might be easier if he was bad at rapping but I've heard a few of his better songs, he's okay. I'd rather just sass him on the socials.

Is there still a need for submissions? I can do a one-take wonder Sunday if that would "help".

We're good but more songs won't hurt. I'll probably update the site soon though but I can post late entries if they come in soon after I've posted the songs.
