I, on the other hand, am tempted to obey all the laws. Once I find some worth obeying. Suggestions welcome ;)

Is there some red-letter day coming up related to blood? All I see on my calendar is Japan's "Ocean Day."

Another shower tune. Obey all the laws. I have to get pen and paper ready before each shower.

I can while away the hours, ****ing in the showers.

my computer is in the shop for the next few weeks (they gotta replace the mother board), so there goes all my recording capacity.

but they'll have to pry my guitar from my cold, dead hands!

here's some chords and lyrics for the taking:

[E] [G]i [D]have [C]een [E]listening [G] [D] [C9]
to every word you said
i have been turning 'round
all the lies in our bed
i am in search of a melody
i am in search of a rhyme
i cannot find our rhythm
can only guess at the right time

[Am]-[Cma7]you [E7]have not
[Am]-[Cma7]been [D9]hearing me
(bis)

i am in search of a reason
sir gallahad never looked so hard
i am in search of a lady
that ahab never looked so far
i have been reading
every word you ever wrote
decrypting all your signals
transposing every note

you have not been hearing me

been carrying this hollow cross
full of copper strings
been using up all my time
to see what time wasted brings
i am in search of a melody
in search of something new
the old tunes have let me down
they only sing i hate you

you have not been hearing me

What to do???

Post by Ross »

So I wrote my "Obey all the Laws." and as I've been doing with my songfight! songs, I let the song take me where it wanted to go genre-wise. But I recorded several of the tracks, it's going fine, but I'm like, "Crap - it's a lounge song! I wouldn't listen to this!"

What to do? I'm tempted to just strip down to GnG (which is what I generally do) and let the song speak for itself.

What do you folks suggest?

Ross

If you normally 'let the track take you', then you have to go with it no matter what. Otherwise you're not being true to your muse.

Submit it. Or master both versions and link to the alternative.

That's one of the great things about SongFight: genre experimentation. Go for the lounge, I say; I'd like to hear it.

Pay no attention to Caravan Ray. He stands upside down, and he covets the ashes.

Hem hem. This week I will be attempting to obey all the laws that I can with a flugelhorn, triangle and matchbook.

That sounds surprisingly like a satanic rite. There' something about those Australians.

I will be hating you (singular), but even if I was just commanding that you obey the laws, it would probably sound like I was just hating you... so.. ya. Wait for it.

We've got some acoustic twang in the works for "Obey All the Laws". I hope this fight becomes as genre-diverse as this thread suggests... lounge... triangle... do I hear polka? anyone for math-grind? 8)
