A friend loaned it to me a couple years ago. The band is smokin'.

Yes
Funny, I'm not a big prince fan, but a lot of his songs made great covers, eg:
Nothing Compares 2 U - Sinead O'Connor
Manic Monday - The Bangles
Rasberry Beret - Hindu Love Gods
Mr Jones' "Kiss" was the best though

I'd rather hear Nirvana do Paul Anka covers

It was great, man, but it doesn't beat the original out in any way. I don't think any of those you listed do.

Steve & Eydie(sp?) did Black Hole Sun on an album called Lounge-A-Palooza and it was outstanding. Outstanding I tell you!

None can beat the mighty Frank Bennett and his version of 'Creep'

Also check out his albums of cheese covers of indie sounds at

Despite being Australian, the man is akin to genius.

yes - the Paul Anka thing instantly reminded me of Frank Bennett - I didn't think anyone else would have heard of him. "Creep" was good - but genius?

Tiny Tim's "Hey Jude" is divine.

Oh man, thanks for that J$. Frank Bennett's awesome! Like a not-annoying Richard Cheese.

Nothing beats Leonard Nimoy's 'Ballad of Bilbo Baggins'
unless it's Shatner's 'Mr Tambourine Man'. Truth.
