However I think making the viewer wait like
8 seconds before revealing each subliminal message was way too long.

Until I see hard statistical evidence I still don't believe subliminal ads work.

Whenever someone says "HAY WATCH THSI AND TURN UP VOLUM!" I generally take it to mean it's one of those flash vids where you're looking closely at something and then a horrid face screams at you.

I had that exact same thought.

This is not one of those.

My school's 'students guiding' program(aka, you sit in health class and other students come in and try to bond with you before telling you not to do bad stuff) did that exact same thing. Funnily enough we did not bond very well.

Not really. You need the sound on though. The effect is better with headphones.
