I think being in America is getting to me, I thought you meant the Philadelphia Eagles, as in the football team. It never even occured to me that it could be the music Eagles.

this sounds silly enough to be do-able.
Might have to borrow one of my Dads Eagle records.

If we do hotel california, somebody better make it into a hardcore deathmetal song.

Can I do a Supertramp song instead? Otherwise I call 'Take It to the Limit'

No, it has to be Eagles. Because of the whole Henley thing. Also, I'm claiming "New York Minute."

Are you claiming that then?
I might be in, but I need to check with my vocal assistants first.

Yes, I think would be happy to collaborate with anyone on 'Take It to the Limit' as well. I'm considering exploring the Kraftwerk possibilities of the Henley oeuvre ...

My opinion of the Eagles is on par with The Dude's from The Big Lebowski. Can't stand 'em.
That said, I cover a few of their songs in my solo set, and I'll record one, 'cause what the Hell? Jot me down for Desperado.

But that's a Jackson Browne song! Oh... oh alright, do it. Also, anybody know where we can host this shit?
Posted: Tue Sep 06, 2005 5:46 am
by thehipcola
I have some space, so I could host if need be. I'm no whiz at html though, so whatever page it'll have will be pretty basic.
I'll setup an ftp for people to upload stuff to. PM me when you are ready to do it, and I'll give you the login details.

I'm happy to host side fights (voting & links only), now that I'm set up with the voting scripts and all.

OOH OOH dibs on Witchy Woman - If you think you hate the eagles now just wait until I butcher 'em. Might have to break out the junior high tighty whiteys for the falsetto parts.

EDIT: I have now updated the list to reflect the changes that Luke suggested as rules for the fight (i.e. not a cover of a cover). The only song in this list not valid for this fight is Ol' 55 by Tom Waits
Okay the running so far:
Southwest_Statistic – Hotel California???
j$ - Take it to the Limit (collab volunteers sought)
weasel Slayer – New York Minute
TheHipCola – The Disco Strangler
Dan-O From five-o – Tequila Sunrise
Egg – In the City
Jimtyrell – Desperado
Roymond – TBD ???
Pegor – Witchy Woman
c hack - Victim of Love
stueym – New Kid in Town
Octothorpe - Life in the Fast Lane
Jack - Peaceful easy feeling
Albatross -Lyin' Eyes
Caravan Ray - One of These Nights
EAGLES STUDIO ALBUMS ACCORDING TO W-IKI
Founding members
Glen Frey
Don Henley
Bernie Leadon (left 1975)
Randy Meisner (left 1977)
Replacements
Don Felder (joined 1974, fired 2001)
Joe Walsh (joined 1975)
Timothy B. Schmit (joined 1977
Accordingly if writer credits are listed for any of the above, or the song was an original (first commercial release) Eagles recording written by another songwriter, then the song is valid for this coverfight according to Luke
