We just adopted this kitty, called Starbuck. (Yes, from BSG). The tip of her ear is missing. It's adorable.
Do you have pets? Are they as adorable as Starbuck? I think not.

We have a lot of pets in my house. Here's the whole bunch:
RAYNA (named after the Coal Chamber bassist)

She was a rescue pig. Someone abandoned her in a hallway in a Chelsea apt. building.
SOOZEE

No creature hates me more in this universe than she.
PORTIA (the root of the name means 'pig')

Another rescue pig. Soozee's true love.
PIGLET (the kids named her)

The angry bitch of our pets, known for barbering and violating the others.
PERSEPHONE (We love mythology)

Not the brightest crayon in the box but she sure is cute.
OWEN (Named after "A Prayer for Owen Meany" despite being a girl)

Born of September 11th, just like both of the kids.
EINSTEIN

He's the wonder pig. He's a "lethal white". He's blind, deaf and has no front teeth. Lethal don't usually survive for very long. He's 2 now.
JACKIE (as in Chan)

He like me is quite unlucky with the ladies.
CALEB VALBOWSKY (The last name is from WWE star Val Venis)

My cat. He just passed away a few weeks ago.
ASHES

The black pig overshadowed by all the other pigs.
DEXTER (named after the Offspring guy)

Our newest addition, the hamster.
CUDDLES

Our other recent passing. She had the jowls of a Southern Senator
We have so many pets because the women of the house are very active in animal rescue work, especially guinea pigs.

My 2 pups.
Ceasar and Sandy, ruling the bed like they rule their owners. Ceasar is the Dachshund. We had to give the little guy a big name to enable him to keep up with that 120 pound Labrador who is a lot more fit than she looks lying down and with her ass in your face. (That's a whisp of my youngest daughter in the background) We also have a couple of ferrets which thanks to this thread made me realize I have no pictures of. I'll get some and put them up.

<---------Munchie, named by my sister. I like to tell people it's short for Munchausen.
Former pets include a rat named Bramble (my sister's doing again) and a golden retriever named Andromeda. My aunt is a vet and owns a Cockateal who is nineteen years old. It bit clean through my ear once when I was little. So hooray for birds.

Patience the alpaca and Baby Herbie - caught red-handed after a raid on our flower beds.
(old photo - sadly I had to sell my farm last year - so I am now alpaca-less)
Other old friends I had to give away when I sold the farm:

Gary the Pig

and Peter, Paul and Mary, the Chinese geese and Laverne and Shirly, some other type of geese.
(actually - this is a very old photo. Paul and Mary were eventually killed by dingos. Laverne died from ticks. Peter had his head bitten off by Gary the Pig (justifiably - Peter was a really nasty goose) - only Shirly lived to a ripe old age - and she was given away to a good home along with Gary the Pig - the 2 of them having developed a very curious, 'special' relationship.)

Sorry to hear about your cat Niv.
Everyone has very cute pets.
Wow Caravan Ray an alpaca! That would win the award for most unique pet ......

IF I DIDN'T HAVE ONE OF THESE! HAH!!
Okay that's a lie... I did take that picture though.
Anyway, meet my real pets: Sherlock and Watson (L and R respectively)
who would really like to eat all six of these (Tanman shown)
And until my divorce this year I had a dog named Guinness

I feel left out since my last two cats (Kilgore and Venus) went with the ex ten years ago. But, I grew up with a horse (Sam), a dog (Blackie) three cats (at any given time, actually, there were perhaps 10 over the 18 years at home. Mine was YoYo) and a bull that we raised for the Heifer project.

We found out Starbuck has a duff tail. It doesn't do anything and goes 'thunk' when you drop it. We haven't seen her jump up yet, she just kinda stands next to you, looks up, and mews until you lift her up, then she goes on her merry way. She can do a wobbley jump down though.
So not only is she freaking adorable and has half an ear, she also has a broken tail that just hangs there and goes thunk.

Is the 'duffness' due to an accident or was she just born that way? Just a random biology note that you may or may not care about, but, you know how identical twins can be different, like different heights and weights? There's a mouse strain where genetically identical clones can have tails that are almost normal or ones where the tail is completely screwed up like you mentioned about your cat. It all depends on what we call 'epigenetic' modifications, that is to say that there are signals that stand on genes and tell them to be silent or not. If a particular gene is silent in one animal its tail can be normal but if it's not silent then it will be screwed up - even though both animals have identical genes!

Snoopy and Linus eating jelly out of a spoon with my daughter lookng on (how about them candy cane jammies?). Snoopy is the white one and Linus the dark one. When they work themselves under the furniture you have to call them like babies. As in Nyoopy and Nyinus. It's very important to get the baby talk accent right or they won't come out.
It's also embarrassing as hell, but that's another story. Sorry about the Nevada sized photos.

this is dixie (my mom named her), a miniature schnauzer. she is not cute. she's mostly just weird and she talks way too much, but she is my favorite animal in the world.
if my dog had a myspace profile, that would be the user picture.

that cat is a doppleganger for my cat Lucky
except for the bit about being the best cat in the world. mine's a horrible cantakerous animal that I would happily tie a heavy weight to and drop in Moreton Bay for the sharks to eat (if my wife would let me).
She cost me over $200 in vet bills last year - not for treatment for herself, but to fix the neighbour's cat that she savaged. Now it's been recommended that I take her to an 'animal psychologist'.
I'd really just prefer to use my 'brick and sack' therapy.

Ferrets are banned as pets in Queensland.
So are rabbits.

Aurora decided to give Einstein the guinea pig a myspace account. And for reasons that boggle the mind, both Charly (the wife) and Aurora (the bff) decided that all the guinea pigs need livejournals. I live in a wacky world.
