I don't think I've seen the new songs go up this fast before!
Since everyone complains when their real lives take precedence, it's only right that the FMs get kudos for their speedy posting this week! ^_^

This isn't a complaint or a suggestion.
But yeah, it's really neat how the songs are up already.

Fight! Fight! Fight!

Yes, new songs indeed.
Now, I believe I only submitted songs in 2004, but back then (after I'd gone to school uphill both ways in the snow) there were THREE (3) titles to choose from. And one would always make me tingle in that special place (the epiglottis.) So, I am just wondering why, the few times I have come back since then, that there is but one measly title!? I have avoided SF the last 2 years because of this. And while you may or may not remember Squirrel Damage, my moog looks at me longingly to be put to use.
More fights per week please.
And I apologize if this has been discussed recently and I missed it.

To stay on topic, yes, the Fight Masters (with a capital F&M) were damn fast the past couple weeks. Thank you Sirs.
Off Topic - Tony, I wasn't around in the multi titles days. But I would think that if there were, say 3 titles to pick from, one would eclipse the other 2, and members that put hard work on a song in the other 2 wouldn't get heard or reviewed. I could be wrong, but that's my thought.

Actually, most of the time the multiple title thing worked out OK with a reasonable number of people picking each song. I felt that there was a better likelihood of having a title that would tickle your fancy.

I prefer 1 title to 3. I really don't like having to make decisions. The only reason I don't enter fights is if I don't have time. I have never 'not entered' because I didn't like the title. I like rigid boundary conditions. I also like having a big field of songs to listen to - and with lots of people playing, (in theory) that should produce a lot of reviews.
The only problem with one title/big fights is that reviewing 20+ songs can become a chore - but that is a minor complaint. In general - I prefer 1 title to 3.
I also prefer 1 to zero. WTF is this weeks title!?!?!

I preferred multiple titles, for the surprise factor as well as the scatterbrained way I work (working on each one until one took over--though it made for a lot of incomprehensible notes... SF kills trees!).

The Wizard of Oz, heh. Or The Toecutter's Ball (crystal ball is hazy at the moment... and damn but those two images don't go together).
Edit: Anybody want to buy a crystal ball, cheap?

Holy Shit. It's Tony. You're a real person. I've been wondering why I've been running a website for you since 2004...

Thanks for posting that Spud, Tony makes some good music. *bookmarked*
OK, back off topic. I was born into the SF with the one title option, so I guess that might be why I feel the way I do. I'm being raised in this environment we have today, so the only way I know is to enter each week, take the title given, and do the best I can with it. At first I had a lot of trouble with that because I've only written from inspiration in the past. Now I'm being pushed, almost the way a record label pushes an artist, to make their next big hit. I like this because it forces me to try harder and dig deeper. I'm not saying I hate change or that I wouldn't like multi titles, but I do like the fact that "everyone" is offering their personal best based on the same title.
I just wish we had a panel of judges that each specialize in a genre. Maybe even a peoples vote and a panel vote with a point system that would take friend flooding out of the equation. IE: It doesn't matter if you win by 10 or 100, it equals 1 point. This site is full of math wiz types, I'm sure someone can come up with the perfect point system.

No panels, BLT.
I have often not entered because the title did not inspire. Some may say that's a good thing, and then I would cry and you would all feel bad. Yes.
I really miss multiple title days.

OK, no panels.
But an automated point system?

Isn't JB like some kind of genius or something?

Maybe we can leave it to the tyranny of the majority, then? Perhaps a vote on an additional title per week?
Spud- I don't know what's funnier- that I know so little about computers I can't make my own website, or that you think I look like a constipated ex-pro wrestler. Thank you for hosting my AAD for so long!

I don't see what's stopping anyone from running a weekly 'alt' fight with a couple of extra titles, short of they don't want to put the time into it.
Like BLT I prefer one title. If there were multiple fights I'd want to enter each one.

No, no voting. No panels. Nothing like that is going to happen. You give feedback, we take feedback, we decide whether to act upon that feedback, usually in the most unexpected way we can think of. Just Because.

I agree with Billy's Little Trip about how having only 1 title pushes me to be a better songwriter, because I usually start by thinking to myself there is no way I am ever going to be able to write a song using that title, but by the end of the week I have created a masterpiece. Also, it makes it a more fair competition when everybody writes a song with the same title, because it is easier to compare all the songs.

When there have been multiple titles, each title had its own vote and winner. You didn't have to choose just one song to vote for. You voted on each fight separately.

I came into this when there were three titles simultaneously. Now there is only one. I like it this way; nay, I prefer it this way.
Please avoid downsizing further, however. I cannot work with a partial title.

Hey, we've had partial titles, they were interesting - s_ rock and welcome to the _.
