Songfight Orchesdtra Mach II

Songfight Orchestra was a ton of fun, and resulted in some extremely groovy music. However, it died on the vine due to the flaky disorganized-itude of its creator, a Mr. Jim of Seattle.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Songfight Orchestra, let me explain. SFO is a single continuous piece of music which is added to every fight by one designated person.
The designated person creates a short piece of music under 45 seconds in length which fits whatever title they've chosen but also, and this is critical flows musically out of whatever came before it. That person submits their song under the name "Songfight Orchestra". I am responsible for splicing it together into a single piece, which I will post and make available to whomever whats to hear it.

The major flaw with SFO Mach I was that I had decided it would be a secret who was doing the piece each week, and I was PMing people to tell them it was their turn. That was bad.

So I'd like to propose SFO Mach II. It will work just like Mach I, except that there will be one major significant upgrade. To wit:

Everyone who is interested, PM me in the next week or so. After a week, I will list all the participants in the order in which they are to participate. Whoever submits for a given week will then notify the next person on the list that it's their turn. I won't be involved in that process, so I won't screw it up. All I will do is be the splicer-together guy.

Who's interested?

Each entry is part of a regular fight. So you get as long as that fight is.

It's like this: It's just like submitting a regular song to a fight, except that:
You submit under the band name Songfight Orchestra
You must musically connect to the SFO entry preceding it
You've got to be under 45 second.

Mach 1 is the speed of sound. I think you mean "Mark."
Anyway, I might try this, this time around.
I can probably sample something from the end of the previous piece to make the transition...

That means we'll hear SFO Mach II before it's actually recorded. Or perhaps the Doppler effect will make it audible only to dogs. Cool.

Mach II is a Spinal Tap reference.

The original Songfight Orchestra compilation is right here.

Hopefully that will get some of you out of the woodwork to come and join in for the second installment. After everyone who's volunteering is in, I'll publish the list of who goes and in what order, then it's up to you to follow through, or face the wrath of your fellow orchestra members. All I'll do it CoolEdit the pieces together.

Wow, that compilation is quite a trip. It's like a stream of consciousness from a person with many different personalities. It sounds like it stops at Roymond's entry for "I'm Not Impressed", though, when the archive seems to indicate 7 further SFO entries after that. What happened?

Everything's on hold with SFO2, partly because my life intervened, and partly to wait for Nur Ein to go through its paces. But you'll be in.

I would really like to have a go at this when it happens, if that's ok with everybody

Just so it's publicly official: Everyone is invited. I'm keeping the list of people who have said they want in, and in a few weeks I'll get it started. Anyone else who wants in, post here or PM me.

Hey Jim SFO 1 still isn't complete, like the name of the file claims, is it? There's definitely a couple of them missing ...

I know, I got lazy, but also, the last few entries did not follow the rule of musically connecting to the previous entries, so it suddenly got really choppy. I was thinking maybe I'd pen some sort of segues between them, but have not gotten to it yet.

I would like to do this :)
