A+ A cult classic and one of my all time favorites. I just made Erin watch it for the first time, on a new DVD release that has all sorts of awesome extras, unlike the original DVD release. Emilio Estevez is really great as a stupid, obnoxious punk, no surprise. Harry Dean Stanton is awesome, too. I love the music and sound effects as well.

This is my favorite movie of all time. Every time I watch it I think the secret of life is somehow hidden in its folds. And I'm not joking. If you dig Repo Man I also suggest finding and watching Straight to Hell. Alex Cox wrote and directed, Joe Strummer and Sy Richardson star. It's fucking awesome. Jim Jarmusch is even in it. And Dennis Hopper. And it's just this amped up surreal spaghetti western.

I've never been able to find cans of 'FOOD' in my local grocery store.

Straight To Hell was (is) awesome.
Repo Man, too. I didn't know there was a new DVD out. That's a movie worth owning.

I remember watching a movie around the same time called Suburbia, but I couldn't tell you much about it. Anyone remember that one?

Roger Corman produced, the woman who later went on to make "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" (Amy... Heckerling?) directed or something.

Low budget punk movie set in the mad mad mad early '80s, on the outskirts of Los Angeles.

Best of the genre, IMO. Though SLC Punk tries real hard to live up to being a bastard love child of Suburbia & My Own Private Idaho.

Most excellent movie, Jim. Just don't get it mixed up with the later flick (mid-late '90s?) that has the same name.

Oh, and the girl punk who taught the mohawk kid to blow his nose is a wicked-cool pool shark IRL.

Suburbia was great. Flea of the Chili Peppers had a bit part as one of the punks who lived in the squatter's house. They taught real punks to act, rather than to get actors to try to act punkâ€”which is why the acting was so bad.
They also had some great live scene's from the Vandals and D.I., and some not so great live footage from that cheesebal T.S.O.L.

The soundtrack is not so good, which I have on vinyl. One side consists of the aforementioned live stuff, but the other side is instrumental mood music by some guy who obviously hadn't ever actually heard punk before. Safe, safe, safe.

The soundtrack to Repoman is, of course, fantastic, with Black Flag, Circle Jerks and Suicidal Tendencies, among other greats. Circle Jerks have a cameo as a bad lounge act.

Ha! - yes, I guess it's been almost 20 years since I saw that movie - but the "FOOD" cans is the one thing that stuck in my head

I finally saw this last night and it was fucking awesome! So random, so many great quotes, the band in the club were AMAZING, the ending was hilarious. It was just brilliant, partly cos it had no idea what kind of film it was trying to be. Possibly good enough to rival my other favourite Emilio Estevez film from 1984.

All of a sudden I find myself desperate to see Straight to Hell.

How funny! I was just talking about this movie yesterday. Must be a Repo Man Zeitgeist or something. This flick has one of the best soundtracks of all time.
