huh, that's funny. just today that exact song came onto the pandora as i was listening. i hadn't heard the band before, but had heard lots of recommendations. i thought it was pretty good, definitely listenable, but i wasn't jumping up to buy it or anything.
funny coincidence.

I think if you gave Wilco a chance, you would get into it. Find one of their albums for cheap and give it a few listens.

I played "Jesus, Etc." (from the same album) as the second song on <a href="http://www.spewgrass.com/podcasts/glenn ... u">episode 17</a> of the House of Delusions. I think it's a REALLY good song.HeuristicsInc wrote:huh, that's funny. just today that exact song came onto the pandora as i was listening. i hadn't heard the band before, but had heard lots of recommendations. i thought it was pretty good, definitely listenable, but i wasn't jumping up to buy it or anything.

I particularly recommend starting with <a href="http://www.last.fm/music/Wilco/A.M.">"A.M."</a>, or <a href="http://www.last.fm/music/Wilco/Summerte ... rteeth"</a> as a starting point for Wilco, should you choose to check them out further.
ROCK!

Glenn, are those recommendations based on what you already know I like (e.g. from my reviews), or on your personal preferences? Just wondering.

It's more my personal preferences than anything. Having said that: based on your reviews, I wouldn't think these albums would be too far off the mark from what you would normally enjoy. I could be wrong, of course.HeuristicsInc wrote:Glenn, are those recommendations based on what you already know I like (e.g. from my reviews), or on your personal preferences? Just wondering.

I think it's a really great track, one of the best on Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, but I was talking with a friend one day and he said he loved YHF except for the track that sounds "like Fleetwood Mac." then I found out he meant Jesus, Etc. and was really bummed.fodroy wrote:that's definitely in my top five wilco songs. god, it's so good. that violin and the smooth, smooth chorus are beautiful.GlennCase wrote: I played "Jesus, Etc." Heavy Metal Drummer's great too though. The video's good.
ALSO RECOMMENDED: I Am Trying to Break Your Heart, the Wilco docu about the making of YHF.

For some reason on first listen I didn't really like any of their stuff, but the more I listen, the more I grow to like it. This was the case with 'A Ghost is Born' and now I LOVE it. It's currently my favorite Wilco album out of the three I have. The production is so nice and smooth and thick. I'd agree that 'Jesus, Etc.' is the best song on YHF. Anyone here seen them live? Should my expectations be high?
Yeah,'Jesus Etc' is the best.

Man, the Old 97s / Wilco show at the Phoenix was one of bthe best I've ever seen. It was on the Summerteeth tour, and it blew me away how well they reproduced the feel of the album. Specifically, She's A Jar. Jaw-dropping.
