The Stink
All my life I've had a complex
making me believe that I
couldn't be what I wanted...
Keeping me from reaching high.
In my head there was a creature
planting lies and growing fears.
I'd go out to see a band play...
This is all that I would hear:
Don't be mad 'cause they're better than you.
Don't be sad there's nothin you can do.
It doesn't matter what you think
because you're covered in the stink
of Mediocrity.
Every day it was the same thing
walls went up and I went down.
Drinkin' beer and drinkin' whiskey
I tried real hard to make him drown.
This went on and on and on and
I began to fill with dread.
Then I stopped even trying.
So he popped right up and said:
Don't be mad 'cause they're better than you.
Don't be sad there's nothin you can do.
It doesn't matter what you think
because you're covered in the stink
of Mediocrity.
So one day I'd finally had it.
I looked the creature in it's eye
then I punched it's fuckin' lights out
and the bitch began to cry.
So I guess this is the moral
don't believe what others say.
If they try to make you feel bad
turn to them and fuckin' say:
Don't be mad 'cause I'm better than you.
Don't be sad there's nothin you can do.
It doesn't matter what you think
because I've washed away the stink
of Mediocrity.
(repeat Mediocrity ad nauseum)

THE STINK by Melvin
I used to lose my mind just to get it
Never paid rent on time, I’d forget it
Persian hustler, IOU
Do you know me?
Please say we’ve never met
Aaaah!
It seemed impossible
And unbelievable
That I could extricate the stink
But now I’m soluble
Fully conceivable
I’ve got the brains to think
Cloud of smoke - good sense couldn’t cut it
I opened my mind then slammed it when I shut it
Bill collector, IOU
Do you know me?
But I am Japanese!
Aaaah!
It seemed improbable
Highly unfeasible
That I could extricate the stink
But now I’m floatable
Fully releasable
Somehow I did not sink
Do you get high?
Aaaah!
It seemed so dubious
That I could get through this
That I could extricate the stink
But now I’m glorious
Fully normalized
Yes, I came back from the brink
I used to lose my mind just to get it
Never paid rent on time, I’d forget it
Persian hustler, IOU

The Stink
by Truth and Regret
-----------------------
saturday you came over
and left your tact right by the door
if a fight was what you wanted
you got that and so much more
chorus
------
settle down, lets be reasonable
calm yourself, and blow into a bag
you are more irrational than you think
when you're raising the stink
monday you only caused me problems
tuesday you only caused me pain
thank God I didn't see you wednesday
because it would have fried my brain

The Stink
By Steve Durand
I'm going to sing a little song so you can see
Life isn't very easy for a frog like me
You must be very careful about where you jump
When people use your home as a garbage dump
It's not a very pleasant way to pass the time
Inhaling the aroma from an open sewer line
With all the noxious chemicals in the water that you drink
There's no way to avoid the stink
Why, Oh why
Do people have to be so mean
Trashing up the wilderness
Oh, how I really wish my pond was clean
When pollution levels start to rise too high
Amphibians like me will be the first to die
This could be happening much sooner than you think
Unless you try to stop the stink
Let's hop on down to the pond and I'll show you what I mean.
See the beautiful rainbow of colors reflecting off the surface? That's from the oil slick. Let's see, here's an old beer can. Miller time!
A nice crunchy piece of styrofoam. And what's that brown thing floating in the water? It looks sort of like a Baby Ruth candy bar.
My, Oh my
It really isn't too much fun
Trying to ignore the stench
Of dead fish corpses rotting in the sun
So, now you know where you'll find me
Swimming in the effluent from a factory
And all the other toxic stuff that you pour down the sink
They all contribute to the stink

i think it was big this time last year
i'm glad it's something you feel so deeply

The Stink by The Kids (y'know, the meddling ones)
I'm thumbing through second hand discs
And find 10" of pure black gold
My first thought: "what I've always needed
Up to this point, my life will be different now"
Chatham smells like rotting pidgeons
Chatham smells of exhaust
The stink of it is I've no turntable
So this plastic is purely ornamental
My second thought: "somebody somewhere
Thought this wasn't good enough to keep"
They had a good taste and they lost it
And part of them died inside
Chatham smells like rotting pidgeons
From this squalor I will deliver
Chatham smells of exhaust
One day it will slide into the river
Give up the struggle to clean up this town
We can all drown the stink with exhaust
Give up the struggle to clean up this town
We can just drown the stink with exhaust
