RIGHT NOW STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR CAPS LOCK KEY
WHY ARE THE WORDS "CAPS LOCK" NOT IN ALL CAPS?
AND WHY ARE THE LETTERS ON YOUR KEYBOARD ALL CAPITALS, EVEN THOUGH A REGULAR KEYSTROKE PRODUCES A LOWERCASE LETTER?

WOW, THAT'S DEEP STUFF, 15-16.
ALSO, WHY ARE THERE NO CAPITAL NUMBERS?
OR ... IS IT THAT THERE ARE NO LOWERCASE NUMBERS?

I THOUGHT THAT ! WAS A CAPITAL 1 AND ETC.
ALSO WHEN I CLICKED ON THAT LINK, WHY THE FUCK DID MY COMPUTER TRY TO READ MY A DRIVE? I THINK THAT WEBPAGE GAVE ME A VIRUS OR SOMETHING. ANYWAY, I'VE BEEN COUGHING ALL DAY SO MAYBE THE VIRUS CAME FROM SOMETHING ELSE.

WELL NO
YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO WRITE WORDS ON PIECES OF PAPER TO TALK THOUGH
AND THOSE ARE CAPITALIZED
(THAT'S GOING TO MAKE SINGING AT MY ROCK SHOW TONIGHT REALLY HARD)

YOU NEED A REALLY BIG DRY ERASE BOARD. WRITE THE WORDS ON THERE IN CAPITAL LETTERS AND HOLD IT UP. AND UMMM LEARN TO PLAY GUITAR WITH YOUR FEET I GUESS?

NO, BECAUSE 1 AND ! DON'T HAVE THE SAME MEANING. A AND THE OTHER KIND OF A THAT I CAN'T TYPE RIGHT NOW DO HAVE THE SAME MEANING, EXCEPT FOR ONE BEING CAPITAL AND THE OTHER NOT. ALSO, IF YOU HIT CAPS LOCK AND THEN THE 1 KEY YOU GET A 1 NOT A !. SEE?
THE DRY ERASE BOARD IS A GREAT IDEA.

I WONDER HOW LONG THE SPECIALNESS OF THIS WILL LAST, BEFORE I START POUNDING MY HEAD ON MY DESK.
AND A QUESTION, DO YOU NOT CAPITALISE THE LETTERS THAT ARE USUALLY CAPITALISED? Y'KNOW LIKE 'I' AND 'FRED'?
JUST WONDERIN'...

I DONT KNOW BECAUSE I DONT ORDINARILY CAPITALISE ANY OF THOSE WORDS. SO I AM CAPITALISING ALL OF THEM TODAY BECAUSE ITS CAPS LOCK DAY DAMNIT! BUT YOU DO RAISE AN INTERESTING POINT: USUALLY THE PRONOUN "I" WOULD BE TYPED AS SHIFT+I. BUT IF YOU HAVE CAPS LOCK ON AND TYPE SHIFT+I YOU WOULD GET "i". HMMMMMM.

that's a good question. if you look at any of the other keys, it shows the symbol it makes with and without the shift key, like "1" and "!" or "," and "<" ...
it seems like to keep it consistent, instead of a big "A", the key should have an "a" with an "A" above it.

The 1=! thing doesn't work, really, because there's a bit of a culture gap. A UK keyboard has different shit over their numbers than a US keyboard. So, a capital 2 over here is @, but over there it's.... something else. I forgot.

On my keyboard, which presumably has the brit configuration:
1 = exclamation point
2 = double quote marks
3 = pound sterling symbol
4 = dollar symbol
5 = percent
6 = circumflex (or 'hat')
7 = ampersand
8 = asterisk
9 = open parenthesis
0 = close parenthesis
The 'at' symbol is two keys to the right of the L, and is the shift of the apostrophe.
BTW, what we call the hash looks like the grid lines for a game of tic tac toe, but I think you use the word to refer to a different symbol.

The hash symbol is called an Octothorpe, or so I'm led to believe.
Please correct me if I'm wrong Spud.

Interesting..
Looks like we use the US layout - ie. there is the 'hash (#)' sign on the '3' key and the 'at (@)' above the '2'.
I never knew a hash, # could be referred to as an 'octothorpe'! Fascinating.
Now - can somebody explain this - or will I have to add it to my 'pet peeve' list:
Why does the asterix on my keyboard have 5 points - yet when I type it, the asterix on my screen has 6 points? *****.
WHERE DID THAT OTHER BLOODY POINT COME FROM AND HOW DO I GET RID OF THE BASTARD?*?
