channel strip plugins

I'm looking to get a good channel strip plugin (combined EQ/comp/gate/etc..) so that I can mix similarly in the various hosts I use. Any recomendations?

I know Waves makes one. Also a google search brought my attention to wavearts, but I've never heard of them. Lastly the one from Kjaerhus Audio's Gold series looks pretty cool.

I don't want something that doesn't use a dongle or other retarded protection scheme.
I need VST support. Having a direct X version and/or Mac support would be swell.

Thanks,
-craig

Ooh, double negative. Okay, we can only suggest things that have dongles or other similarly retarded protection schemes :)

Don't let me not rephrase that:

I don't not want something that doesn't use a dongle or other retarded protection scheme.

Any advice willl not be unwelcome.

i'm getting really interested in the wavearts trackplug.
i will try out the demo tonight, but it looks like the custom -2 bundle of trackplug 5 and masterverb 5 is a winner.

anybody use these plugs?

i've gone back and forth and back again on using the "channel strip" type stuff. the problem i have with it is finding one that has a nice, natural compression - they all seem to have that cheap sounding over-the-top compression. i like the real smooth compression from the nomad series, for instance.

do you just not have enough plug-in slots on each track that you need to combine some? you gotta step up to power country and get you some cubase or nuendo.

Have you used the wavearts one? maybe i'll be disillusioned by the demo versions of these ones i'm looking at, and it will all be a moot point.

First of all, I don't have a plugin slot limit..

I'm the kind of guy that puts all the constituent parts of a channel strip on each track already, and right now it's a mishmash of free plugins, or ones that came with the host.

I figured a quick, relatively cheap way to improve my mixes was to invest in a quality channel strip.

Other benefits:
1) a single plugin window to look at for each track
2) cross-platform compatibilty
3) one patch to save the whole strip
4) cpu savings

At least, this is the wonderful world I'm imagining.

you know your mixes are usually pretty stellar already, right? but i do understand reducing clutter.

well, thanks!

anyway, I tried out Trackplug last night. I like it a lot, so I will probably buy it within the next few weeks.

One weird thing about it is that it has 2 compressors in series. Can you think of a reason for this? They do both have a sidechain (in the lame EQ stylee, as opposed to a separate trigger input). But it's not like they're operating on different frequency bands or anything.

A curiosity.
