WebWide Boycott

This is Artificial Gripe.

All artists that support the Owner-User system instead of democracy in web community forums are now subject to boycotting by the users of these forums.

Your band may be included in the WebWide Boycott against the sponsors of non-democratic form.

In other words, we will purchase no products (CD's, comics, ect.) or services (concerts or events that Songfight artists participate in) until Spud and JB rescind the administration of the Songfight forums.

We will then institute a democratic form for the organization of Songfight so that the forum and it's users can experience a maximum benefit.

I don't have an IP.

An Ip number is not a human being.

Ban whatever you want. DICK.

You won't ban Me. You'll just ban an IP.

So what do I have to fear?

So you're gonna boycott Songfight? That means you'll be leaving, then? Can you start today?

If you want democracy, maybe you should start your own website.

If you want to fight for a more democratic internet, you should be more worried about this:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co ... 00256.html

I think Spud and JB and all the rest(?) are doing a great job, and I appreciate the work and time they devote to this site. They've always done right by me.

As a representative of Writers & Artists Supporting The End of Bad American Grammar (WASTE-BAG), it falls to me to take umbrage with this boycott. Specifically, the use of the word "we" implies a plurality of protesters. The correct pronoun to represent "one person with too much time on his hands and a desperate need for a hobby and/or a girlfriend" is "I," as you are surely well aware. Please be more careful when crafting your ridiculous proclamations in the future.

Thank you.

Refresh my memory: What is Songfight selling?

If you're going to be a troll, at least do it properly.

He's not boycotting SongFight!, John. (thank God!), he's boycotting the artists, some of which DO have something to sell.

It's my fault. I got him started...

Furthermore (more for the record than to feed the troll), I don't see what isn't democratic about Songfight. Mods listen to anyone that isn't intentionally being an asshole, and the entire fucking site is based around a popular vote song rating system.

P.S. - Where do you live? I could stand to make rounds anyway.

We are initiating a boycott against all who support the Owner-User system.

That means YOU!

You better hope that they live long!

What would you do without them?

Democratic institutions are self-supporting and self-perpetuating.

With democratic form our communities can develop and grow.

I see no development of Sonfight or Dumbrella or any other communities.

I see the same thing. No changes.

Democracy allows change and growth.

How can you transfer ownership of the community to the next generation of Sonfighters?

With the Owner-User system the the houses of JB and Spud inherit ownership.

The only right to ownership belongs to the Users.

That is community.

Democratic community.

The boycott is against The Irish Doberman as an artist because he supports non-democratic form on the Internet.

I’d probably stop eating and sleeping and sit slack-jawed in front of a 404/not found page in a stinking puddle of my own excrement.

Seriously, kiddo, we’d all be sad, but the sun would rise the following day. I promise.

Which is exactly why it is of the utmost importance to implement democratic form.

So that that more new members can come in and continuously change roles.

With each new election of mods and administrators new programs can be introduced.

And the site can be transferred from one generation of participants to the next.

If the site depends upon JB and Spud, what will you do when they are gone?

What will happen to Dumbrella tomarrow if rstevens gets killed by an automobile tonight?

It all makes sense now! Screw you JB and Spud! I'm joining the movement! And I'm running for SF President!

Rar!

Are you sure it's not because your attempt at "The Irish Rover" was absolutely pathetic? Are you sure it's not because I can kick your ass in your style of choice? Are you sure it's not because people explicitly prefer my songs over yours? Are you really sure?

Gooberoo suffers from penis envy.

Seriously, if you don't like the way things work, you're free to go somewhere else. What could be more democratic than that?

Holy crap, that's the most American thing I've ever heard from a Canadian.

Seriously though, I encounter no appreciable limits to my freedom here at SF. And I have doubts about the value of true democracy in a place like this. Call me a radical if you will, but I think the will of the people does not necessarily result in the wisest course of action.
