A thread to inform people of how to correctly spell words that get misspelled all the time on the boards:
1. definitely - often misspelled as definatly, definitly, etc. etc.

one of my favorites is when people combine a misspelling with a typo and say "defiantly".

My favorite (because I've done it): The plural of entry is entries not entrees. Entrees are food.

Tyrrell has two Rs in it. A common mistake, but one that I never get worked up about, really.
Also, it's pronounced like Merrill, but with a T. Or like Terrible without the B, I guess.

You need better control over your vowel movements.
While I'm here, another pet peeve is the use of "would/should/could
of" instead of "would/should/could
have."

One I've been leading a one-man crusade against, for year, defiantly -
The singular of 'lyrics' is 'lyric', not 'lyrics'.
(I won't launch into 'its' vs 'it's' and 'yours' vs 'your's' as I guess that's grammar, not spelling.)
And one I can never spell myself - restaurant.

Almost every single post by Leaf has something in it that's been misspelled.

Wait, are you saying you're only drunk at work or that you only misspell things when you're at work? Or are you saying you only misspell things when you're drunk AND at work? If that's the case which comes first, the drinking or the misspelling? Do you drink because you misspell or are you misspelling because you're drunk? Maybe you drink because you're at work? That's another variable. Could it be that........whoo feeling light headed........oh that's it then.......gonna fall.......

There is 'a rat' in 'separate'. Always remember this, because if you spell it 'seperate', I will fucking kill you with mind bullets.

Probably covered already, but "there/they're/their" is a constant cause of anger for me here. Please learn the correct usage of these three distinct and different words, so as to not look like a drooling retard. Thank you.

Just curious - do Canadians use the Americanised spellings of "colour", "favourite", "gaol" etc. or the English versions?

by rone rivendale
I may be misunderstanding you, but americans don't use the extra 'u' in words like color. Canadians however do.
