I'm in a classic rock cover band called
No Limitz. It looks like it's going to be a busy summer for us in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. We're playing this Saturday at Goodfella's in Laconia, in fact.
This is, I think, an unseen side of my SF persona, so I thought I'd post the set list. Here's what's on tap this weekend. The ones with the asterisks are the songs that I get to sing.
Show Me The Way*
Secret Agent Man*
No Matter What
Can't Get Enough
Margaritaville*
Take It Easy
Glory Days
Keep On Loving You
Authority Song
Play Guitar
I Know My Rights*
(woo!)
What I Like About You
China Grove
Rock'n Me* / Jet Airliner
Mustang Sally*
Bye Bye Love
(The Cars)
Separate Ways
I Feel Fine*
Keep Your Hands To Yourself
Summer Of '69
Pretzel Logic*
Gimme Three Steps
Born To Be Wild
Already Gone
Drive My Car*
Can't Buy Me Love*
Heartache Tonight
Carry On Wayward Son
Don't Stop Believin'
Only The Good Die Young*
Same Old Song And Dance
Still Got The Blues
Crazy Little Thing Called Love*
Bad Moon Risin'*
Rocky Mountain Way
You May Be Right
Rockin' The Paradise
I Saw Her Standing There

Is it time to resurrect 'worst band names ever' thread?
Seriously you should cover 'No Limits' by 2 Unlimited, in a CCR stylee.
And also,
cool.

Oh yeah, that band name. It's some sort of amalgamation of two names of previous bands a couple of the guys were in. And we got an unexpected gig offer really early on, and the guitarist had to tell them we were called something, so there it was. Plus, it was No Limits for a while, but then I found nolimitz.org was still available, hence the change. But yeah, super cheesy, and appropriate in its way.

Heh. Why didn't I think of that? You know, I bet it still is. But then we probably couldn't do Def Leppard covers without being accused of insensitivity.

Consider me not offended by that at all.

I don't much like 'em either. But I guess if someone wanted to hear it, and we could do it, well, that's the job. At least for this band.
Man, I sold out or something. It used to be about the MUSIC.

My first band was pretty democratic, playing covers suggested by all four of us. So, there were some songs I wasn't into playing, but it made the experience more fun for all of us. (plus, 90% of our originals were my songs, so I couldn't complain having to cover a few songs I didn't like)

Not a bad idea at all. That's just the sort of thing the audiences we play for like to hear. And I don't think we have a Zevon song in the repertoire yet.
We've been described by one local venue as "Great classic rock featuring songs you don't hear bands try". I don't really think we push the envelope at all, but I guess Carry On Wayward Son comes off as complex, maybe. We don't do Bohemian Rhapsody or anything.
But I do like the idea of trying to represent the entire classic rock spectrum (if such a thing can be decided on, much less done). So including Zevon is a very good idea. We should probably learn a Jackson Browne tune too. Any other ideas?

Do some girl band stuff. It's always different when guy bands do girl band covers.
Pat Benatar
Heart
Jefferson Aeroplane
Blondie
Or how about "Ain't Nothin' Gonna Break My Stride". Everybody loves that song.
