Thank you Blue. I'm no artist by any stretch but I'm always here to help with Cover Art in a pinch.

yeah, i like the covers to Niv. I thought it was some kind of cool concept, but i find out its just a quick fix. Makes me wonder though, a series of covers for the one week that make a story out of the three titles (like three panels in a comic).

It was a little of both. I saw there was no art yet so I did one for big success then I was inspired to do Crude and then said to myself, 'well, you did 2". So I thought up the Am I Forgiven one. And I got to make fun of George Lucas, Britney Spears and John Travolta/Scientology all at once. Yay. I enjoy doing these "One Minute Photo" bits.

ha, cool. That is something like what I meant. I like the idea of an ongoing artwork story. I might have to develop that idea somehow.

I have a question for the art geniuses out there. What's the best way to reduce a really large bmp or jpg from really, really big to really, really small without distortion/bluriness?

Changing the image size in photoshop should do the trick just fine. It's usually the small-to-large change that result in problems. If you're adding text to an image though, I've found it's better to add the text after you've shrunk the image to the desired size, because the text may no longer be legible after reducing it.

The Microsoft Paint does a crappy job of shrinking pictures, though.
If you don't have Photoshop you can try The Gimp which is GNU free software.

Okay, the image i'm trying to resize is a logo, and it appears the problem isn't so much with the resizing factor, as it is with the fact that the resolution is not so great to begin with. Is there any way to smooth out the edges in PhotoShop when the edges are a bit pixelated?

Enlarge and then try sharpening to fix the blurriness. However, you might want to re-create the logo as a vector graphic so you can play with it however you like.

I'm not mentioning dpi again. I'd just like that on the record.

We have a saying about stuff like this in the publishing industry.
You can't polish a turd.

Sorry to come in late, but... is it color, greyscale, or bitmap (black & white)? Different hacks for each one, there are.
Though if it's simple enough and you have access to Illustrator CS2, the autotrace function (for converting raster images to vector) is pretty damned awe-inspiring.

Thank you for the compliments on jesus. :) I was kinda going for a virgin-mary-on-grilled-cheese thing. I'm glad it worked. ^_^
I made some art for Influential Film this week 'cause I didn't see anything else submitted yet. Ten points to whoever can name all fifteen films first!
