Yeah, what's the big deal? So the guy made a mistake, didn't realize the kid would be hurt by having too much fun. Now he knows better. Next time you put her in the dryer, just be sure not to put it on HOT.

Unless he actually just didn't give a shit about the kid. But there's really no reason to assume that.

i don't know anything about australian law, but here, they could just sue the manufacturer of the dryer, saying they ought to have had a big warning label stating "WARNING: PLACING SMALL CHILDREN INSIDE AND TURNING ON MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURIES INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO BRUISES AND/OR BURNS."

...which would be even more retarded than convicting or suing the babysitter.

However, it is the next logical step.

Well, the only logical step as I see it (this is, of course, assuming the babysitter actually gives a shit about the baby, which would be indicated by remorse) is to hold the babysitter responsible for paying the baby's needed medical bills, if there were any.

To clarify, I don't think it would be retarded for the company to put warning labels in the dryer. It would be retarded to sue them for not doing so.
