As the Australians may or may not be aware, the radio station Triple J runs their Unearthed competition yearly. Well, this year, Unearthed is being run online, and you can sign up artists before the site officially opens some time next month.
The website can be found
here, and
Sausage Boy is already on it.
I want to hear some Caravan Ray on the radio!

Rappers are
so last Tuesday!
Nowdays, the kids are all about middle-aged men doing country-gospel-garage-punk. I've seen 14-year-olds in Fortitude Valley wearing Lowes Menswear business shirts over their fake beer-guts and shaving bald patches onto thir heads.
Thanks for the heads-up Sausage Boy - since my clock radio broke and I don't drive to work anymore - I don't hear the radio much - I didn't know about this. I'll be in it for sure.

I honestly think that Triple J would play your Pencil Me In. In fact, I think most of the Tex songs would probably make it on, they are just so freek'n good.
You can actually sign up multiple artists to the one user account, so you could, by all means, have both Caravan Ray and Tex Beaumont on there.

Come to my site
Review my songs
Make me famous!

Sweet. I'm glad you haven't gone the whole 'serious musician' route that every other single freek'n person on Unearthed has gone.
Everyone else seems to be 'famous for this' and 'known for that' and 'this guy said this about them'. You and me both are secure in our grasp of stupid music.

They seemed to censor my artist profile slightly - they left off "Rolf Harris" as one of my inspirations.

SB - I don't seem to be able to get your songs to play from the JJJ website (not that I need to I suppose - I have the CD!). I'll try to get some reviews up for you tonight (I've been on holidays - Uluru and the Alice).
BTW: what does the little McDonalds logo mean next to some of the songs? You have one for one of yours. Did you win a Happy Meal?

I wish! Actually, I don't, I hate McDonalds food. Except the Chicken McNuggets, for some reason.
The Happy Meal M is supposed to show songs with mature content, I assume. Since I flagged A Woman Never Forgets as having the word fuck in it a couple of times, and Old Habits Die Hard doesn't, I summise that this is it.
Songs a no play? Hmm, I might have to check this out...
Oh, and I hope you don't mind me refering to you as being a bit like musics John Howard. The analogy seemed to be funny when I thought of it.

No - your songs work for me now - must have been a problem at my end.
The John Howard of Australian Music!
I can live with that! I suppose that also implies that all of my lyrics are inherently dishonest, that I will jump from policy to policy (or style to style) depending on where the votes are, and that I have my tongue firmly jammed up the arsehole of some incoherent American halfwit. It's a harsh way to describe Luke Henley - but yeah, it all fits! I also look damn sexy in a polyester Wallabies tracksuit.

Are you up yet Denyer? What are you called?
Everything seems very slow - I reviewed Sausage Boy's song, and a few others on Thursday I think - they seem to be vetting everything.
Bloody public servants. All they know how to do is to complexify things and thereby create more work for themselves in an attempt to justify their own existence (and I should know)

Public servants are good in bed, though.
A couple of things from my profile have dropped off too. I don't know if it is because of the size limitation of the field, rather than being censored. But, I dunno... Triple J might have some kind of No Rolf Harris clause or something.

Hi Slam Brady,
Your track [trackname - artist name] contains lyrics which we believe would be excessively offensive to our audience and has therefore been placed on 'hold'.
As stated in our user terms and conditions we cannot publish content that the ABC considers to be:
3.4.1 defamatory or otherwise unlawful or that it violates laws regarding harassment, discrimination, privacy or contempt;
3.4.2 intentionally false or misleading;
3.4.3 an infringement of intellectual property rights or copyright;
3.4.4 abusive or offensive, including obscenity, blasphemy and racial vilification;
3.4.5 of nuisance value, inappropriate, off topic or vexatious.
3.4.6 compromising the privacy of yourself, other contributors or of ABC staff, or containing inappropriate personal information;
3.4.7 seeking to endorse commercial products or activities or to solicit business;
To be part of Unearthed, we'd encourage your to either remove any lyrics which could fall under any of the above categories, or replace this track with another.
3.4.1 defamatory or otherwise unlawful or that it violates laws regarding harassment, discrimination, privacy or contempt;
I find this part to be funny. They don't want to violate laws regarding discrimination, but they won't put my song on because it's about having sex with another man. Sorry if being gay is offensive to you, ABC! (or maybe that is inappropriate personal information).
I'm going to do a song about having sex with women and when that gets on, I will sue the bastards.

maybe your song is actually "intentionally false or misleading;" becuase you won't really have sex with men.
Odd that A Woman Never Forgets made it on, as this could pretty easily be taken as an attack on the Female sex. I feel impressed that someone actually sat down and listened to your song, and its not just a guy mindlessly posting stuff up.
