Man Date with Marcus Kellis

Well! I decided I'm important enough for my own thread. I do a weekly radio show, Man Date with Marcus Kellis, from 6:30-8:30 P.M. Friday nights Pacific time, I'm handsome, and gosh darn it, people like me. Sometimes I play things and people from Song Fight! and other times not. Mostly not, I'm afraid, but last week I did get a track from The Cow Exchange in.

This show was for yesterday, October 6, 2006. My birthday is on the 30th of this month--I will be twenty years old! Oh, how time passes. I had a theme, as I sometimes do: "This and That." All these songs, besides the first track which I employ as a theme, have titles which are two clauses separated with the conjunction "and." Sometimes on either side of the marrier you'll find two nouns, or two adjectives, or ... whatever! I thought the show was fine, and I hope you'll agree. It is available for MP3 download, and from there you can put it on a digital music player or listen to it as you wish. fluffy hosts my website for me, and that's very generous and I appreciate it. The show is "S. F. W." except a single oopsie, the Beastie Boys track.

PART 1 (mp3, 28.7 MB, 31:23)
Jelly Roll Morton - Jungle Blues
Akitaka Tohyama and Kenji Ninuma - The Moon and the Prince
George Winston - Linus and Lucy
Alive and Kickin' - Tighter and Tighter
The Beach Boys - Heroes and Villains
The Velvet Underground - Rock and Roll
Tom Waits - Dead and Lovely

PART 2 (mp3, 28.1 MB, 30:42)
Dick Hyman - Rainy Days and Mondays
Huey Lewis and the News - Heart and Soul
Feist - Inside and Out
The Smashing Pumpkins - Frail and Bedazzled
Bauhaus - Of Lilies and Remains
DJ Shadow - Lost and Found (S.F.L.)

PART 3 (mp3, 24.6 MB, 26:52)
The Beatles - Twist and Shout
George Gershwin - Sweet and Lowdown
Ella Fitzgerald - Night and Day
Beastie Boys - Slow and Low (Mixmaster Mike Remix)
Joy Division - Heart and Soul
Led Zeppelin - Dazed and Confused

PART 4 (mp3, 31.1 MB, 34:00)

jack, I don't know if you're joking, but one thing you may not have realized about me is that I'm not usually serious. besides which, bizarre genre juxtaposition is a hallmark of amateur college radio. I'm not getting paid for this!

The funny thing here, is, this weekend KUOI was assigned to log all our songs for BMI to distribute royalties. Erik's cover of the Buzzcocks, and Octothorpe's cover of Oingo Boingo, etc., will be throwing some money toward their writers, apparently.
