5GB of albums

OK, so I got myself a new laptop the other week, and I decided that out of the 80GB drive in it I would dedicate 5GB to mp3s, which I figured would easily be enough to contain all my favourite albums, and a few others thrown in for good luck.

Selecting the albums turned out to be a lot harder than I expected, and I had to cut quite a few for space that I really wish I could have kept.

Well, after much umming and aahing and wailing and whining, I now have a list thatI think represents the best 5GBs worth of music in my collection, or at least my favourite 5GB.

So what else to do but post it here?

Fuck. Yes. Their older stuff is classic, but this one is years beyond everything else.

Showing surprise at someone's taste in music = having a problem with it? Since when? I must have missed the memo.

Sorry, I didn't intend my reply to come off like I thought you were having a go or anything. You should read it in a light-hearted tone of voice. I was, tho', surprised that you were surprised.

Well, I admit that I still don't know exactly what 'goth' is, but I had always imagined that G'n'R were basically the antithesis of 'goth'...

Of course, if a goth would ever explain what 'goth' is to the unwashed masses, these misunderstandings wouldn't happen as often. :)

I promise you, if I ever find two goths who agree on what is or is not goth, I'll be sure to tell you. If it helps any, I don't think of g'n'r as anything like the antithesis of goth. That would be more like, say, the spice girls.

If you're up to it, could you tell me if this song is goth or not? Oddly enough, it's called 'Obscured'. I have a lot of music in my collection which I wonder about re: gothness.

From the same band: Drown In Ashes

Definitely one of those cases where the answer you get will depend on who you ask. I'd personally put it firmly straddling the border between goth and metal. I'd love to remix it.
