Fuck Dennis Erickson. Dude was coach at University of Idaho in 81, then he went to Wyoming, then Washington State (8 miles from UI), then Miami, then Seahawks, then Oregon State, then the 49ers, then Idaho again, signing a five-year contract in February then he left this month to go to Arizona State. The asstard. Fuck him. He was our third head coach in four years or something. Now we've got some new dude who was a defense dude at WSU, so, whatever. We were 4-8 last season. The buyout for Erickson was only $150,000, and I guess for the new dude it's going to be closer to $1 mil.
This is an article about Erickson being a douche:

Anyway I know there's some other football fans here. Who do y'all root for, which bowl games will you watch, etc... Boise State is right next to where I grew up (and my parents are both alums) and they're in the Fiesta Bowl this year, so I guess I'll watch that if I'm free.

My colleges (University at Buffalo, this year 2-10... and William & Mary, 3-9) are nothing to get excited about, so I 'support' (yeah, CR, support) my friends' colleges. Most notably Va Tech since a lot of my friends went there.
Probably will miss the bowl tho.

The singer in my band goes to every single TCU game with his dad, hasn't missed a game for a good 6 years. He and his dad both took about a year at TCU without graduating. Silly people.
Basically, I got nothing to say in this thread.

Thank you - that is much more appropriate.

I go to Ball State. Our football team is horrible and no one goes to the games hardly. Those that do go for the tailgating. I've never been to a game in my three years at Ball State. Basically, my school is strange in that no one really cares about our sports team. School pride does not exist here. We mostly just make jokes about how our football team sucks.
GO TEAM!

Proud graduate here.
The jokes are slightly better if you call it Ball U, but, as you might guess, the last original thought along those lines was concocted in 1954. But not at a football game - they didn't go then either.

I've often wondered what the nickame for the girls in the Curtin University Netball Team is.

Proud student of THE Ohio State University. Obviously will be watching the championship game, but I'll also try to watch every other game.

Not a bad basketball program there either with the Indiana boy Greg Oden raising expectations of 2 National Championships in the same year up about a millionfold. Wouldn't it be funny if they met Florida again for the Championship game in that too?
It would be even funnier (to me anyhow) if they lost them both.
Nothing against you John, I mean it's not like your helping to fund their recruiting efforts........yet.
Anyway, I like a school that actually graudates it's pro prospects and teaches them some moral values while doing it.
Notre Dame.
And John before you even think of replying I have 2 words for you.
Maurice Clarett.

I don't know about original thought. I had an idea to start a liquor store in Muncie called Ball Liquors. Everyone I told the joke to had never even thought of it.

Because the actions of one misguided young idiot speak for the thousands of athletes who have passed through the OSU system.
That has nothing to do with OSU, even. That'd be a silly argument for any school.

Yeah I'm not not trying to pin the whole rap on the all of the previous athletes who have gone on to bigger and better things either in sports or professionally. What I am saying is that Maurice is a microcosm of a program, or rather many collegiate programs, whose boosters, coaches and faculty trade money, digressions in behavior, and scholastics for the betterment of "THE" you name it university.
Maybe I'm kidding myself by thinking that Notre Dame is devoid of these issues, or maybe they just haven't become public yet. It would be easy to say ND just hasn't been caught with their hand in the cookie jar, but a less cynical me would prefer to believe that they actually run a clean program.
On the basketball front it looks like you'll get your test against Florida sooner than the Final Four.
Good luck. I mean that because I hate Florida football and basketball.

I did Marcus, and am I ever glad I did. That was one of the wildest endings to a game I've ever witnessed. I thought they were cooked after the interception with under 2 minutes to play. Then the hitch and go play to send it into overtime with seconds left on the clock was great. Pure balls on the part of Boise St. in O.T. going for the win with the 2 point conversion. Highly entertaining.
I bet you're gonna be partying your ass off.

I'll be partying, but not for Boise State. Great game, great win, I'm happy for them, but I regret they're my college's rival

Rutgers played in the first intercollegiate football game in 1869.
Fast forward 137 years
Rutgers wins their first bowl game.
All of New Brunswick heaves a heavy sigh of relief and says "Finally".

Ah crap, M made me turn it off at the interception! (we were at a hotel)
Man, now that would have been exciting.
