Anyone want to collab in Reason?

Hi All,

I've been using Reason to make back up tracks and songs and stuff and thought it would be cool to collab with someone, trading the Reason file back and forth. Is anyone else using this program and want to try working on something together?

I just upgraded to 3.0, and am trying to explore it. I would be interested in Reason collaboration.

I would also be interested in doing an "exquisite corpse" type thing with Reason some time, too, if you guys are interested, where one person starts out making a song then passes it along to the next person, who changes it and adds to it, etc. etc.

i should have started with "i'm definitely interested. i have reason 3"

i don't use it much anymore, but it is very fun.

Not to sound dumb, but what's Reason?

Well, I'm using 2.5, but can upgrade to 3. I like the exquisite corpse idea. Let's start next week okay? I'll upgrade over the weekend and get a file up on Monday.

Does anyone know if Reason has a way to just import changes to file?

Ken

PS. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAM!!!

Reason is a super awesome virtual synth/sampler rack and sequencer.

Here's some propaganda for you:

It's strength in my mind is that crazy way you can modulate all the modules with each other.

Interesting. I think I'd like to get in on this (good way to learn the program more productivelier, as well as doing different things than the usual guitar strangling, &c., heh).

But what's "exquisite corpse"?

Exquisite Corspe was a novel written by a bunch of different authors one handing the story to the next. I don't know what the rules were, but the person who wrote the beginning didn't write the end.

I sent a file to Starfinger this afternoon. He will pass it on to Lunkhead and on to you.

Exquisite Corpse: At first it was just a sentence...:
The technique was invented by Surrealists in 1925, and is similar to an old parlour game called Consequences in which players write in turn on a sheet of paper, fold it to conceal part of the writing, and then pass it to the next player for a further contribution.

The name is derived from a phrase that resulted when Surrealists first played the game, "Le cadavre exquis boira le vin nouveau." ("The exquisite corpse will drink the new wine.")
Anyway it's all about adding on to a previously created work of whatever kind without being able to see the entire work itself.

Yes, I updated to Reason 3. I also wanted to load up Cubase SX3, but you need Xp for that and the laptop is on Win2k.

ok I sent my mutated version to lunkhead.
did you want it too ken?

I didn't add much musical structure, just a bunch of weird modulations.

I wouldn't mind seeing it, but I'm not sure if having multiple versions is a good idea. I'll see it after RG. How about if instead, you start a new file and send it to me?

Hey, what's going on with this? Did my futzing with Ken's file take it too far into the realm of "farting around with sound" ?

I'm concerned that I'm not the best person to be involved in this early on, because I usually just use reason to make weird grooves and then export parts to use in Live.. not build whole songs in the sequencer.

Anyway, like I said, I just want to make sure I didn't derail the project.

On the other hand, part of what I added was a crazy combinator idea I came up with. I thought it was pretty neat.

"Silent but deadly" should totally be your album title.

Hey! I haven't been able to find much time to work on this yet, unfortunately. Should I pass it on to the next person (Rabid?) and wait for another turn at it later?

I wish I still had my um....totally legal copy of reason. I actually am thinking of spending money on it at some point. Reason's damned fun.
