Obviously you mean "cutting edge" then.

Yeah, I've been stuck on this song for the last couple weeks. I cocked my head to the side at the funky guitars and the 4-on-the-floor disco beat, but the trumpets (and then the disco-strings!) that come in during the chorus made me check the ID3 tag to make sure this wasn't an incredibly well executed prank. I assume this song will make some Modest Mouse fans' heads explode. Unrelated, the production on this track is absolutely killer, so much so that I've been using this as a mixing/mastering reference recently.

I heard a couple of their new songs when I saw them in NYC last November. Then my buddy who works at my school's radio station sent me the single a little while back. It's definitely a departure from their older stuff, but I for one am ok with that. If you're the kind of dick who stands in the front row at the concert screaming for them to play "Classy Plastic Lumber," then yeah, you're bound to be disappointed by the new album. But the new stuff I've heard has been getting me pretty excited for the new album.
