Aight....after a few back and forths via pm with Starfinger about Reaktor, a suggestion for a thread that deals with it's finer points came out. This can act as such a thread.

And to kick it off, I have a question for the Reaktites out there....something I think is pretty awesome about Reaktor is using the Snapshot window that has a setting A and setting B, with the morphing slider in between. That slider flying between 2 setups can be way way fun. What I can't seem to figure how to do is assign it to a knob or slider on my keyboard so I can get away from mouse sliding it....

Does anyone know how this can be done?


Otherwise, post your reaktage here.... If you are new to Reaktor, ask about it here. It's a massive massive program and the possibilities are endless. I know many people who just avoid it altogether because of that...maybe this thread can entice some of you back to it's sonic charms...

to morph: you can go to ensemble properties, and the far right tab (for connections)

there is a checkbox for morph, and a controller number box. pick the controller number for morphing (1 for modwheel, etc..)

That's great Bill...this instrument is massively, retardedly awesome. It's one of the few vsti's that I just fire up in stand alone mode, and lose myself for hours tooling around in.

Been playing around with the Flat Blaster2 multiband compressor thing...sounds great on a stereo drum buss. I especially like that you can widen or narrow the stereo spread of the different frequency bands....example, spread your high frequencies wide, overheads and hats get a bit lusher...but collapse the spread of the snare and kick frequencies to give them a bit more definition and energy. Cool!

i'm always amazed that people can build superior quasi-standard mixing tools out of reaktor. I think the reverbs are awesome too.

I've been reading alot about this guy's work...haven't heard any of his ensembles/effects yet though...but he's got the ear of many Reaktor users for sure. I'll check it out.

Using the Morph slider (in snapshot mode) between presets on the Spacemaster reverb is way, way cool.

One of the things I love about Reaktor is access to new ways to incorporate and interact with effects and sounds.

Here is a random thumbs-up directed at the FlatBlaster 2.02 ensemble..

I have never really used flatblaster, since I assumed it was only useful for mastering compression, and I wasn't interested in another plugin like that. But last night, I was doing an impromptu compressor listening test -- listening to a variety of plugs side-by-side, to see what differentiated them -- and FlatBlaster is awesome!

I will only use it for sound design, rather than mixing, but it sounds great and it really reacts to adjustments, so it's fun to explore sounds with.
