CD Burning Software

Okay, so my CD/DVD burner came with this crapola software called Nero. It's got some of the stupidest UI decisions ever and I'd like to try something better (e.g. if you open a project with files that aren't on the drive it removes them without telling you what they are or asking first). This one annoys the crap out of me. Anybody have a software (free or not) that they like?

for audio, I've always used an old Wavelab version I've had kicking around...it's robust and handles lots of audio formats easily...but for data, I usually end up using Nero. Agreed, it's kind of overcomplicated imo...

I've always thought Nero Express was really simple. Probably the only time I use Burning ROM is if I'm burning a disc image.

I personally like Nero. But you're right, it has it's quirks that you have to get used to. But it is the best DVD burning software I've used to this date.
I just started using Itunes for all of my music needs, such as burning music. But I'm pretty much making the jump to all ipod, and no discs. My ipods attach to everything I own as far as audio. Plus, no scratches, no skipping, I can organize better, etc.

I have never had windows built-in stuff create a usable CD.

interesting. i haven't had a problem. i did buy a copy of Nero at one point, and did all the fancy stuff with it. It's not as cool as it should be. Not nearly. Where's the autoexec features and stuff? It should have that, but no, you have to go get some bullshit shareware thing that takes two hours to figure out.

making CDs sucks.

The Nero version I have pops up a simple window with icons of what you want to do. You hover over the music note icon and it pops up more icons asking if you want to make an Audio CD, MP3 CD, DVD MP3, etc. You click audio CD, and it pops a browse window to go retrieve your audio. Once you build your list, you hit, Burn Cd. Done. I always check the "normalize" box to keep levels the same. But they have a ton of great burn features.
I used to use Roxio, but this Nero program came with my external DVD burning and it is simple, which I need. I'm sure newer versions of Roxio are good too, but I have no need to look any further at this point.

Why did I feel compelled to type all this? I don't know. But after I did, while opening Nero to describe it, I couldn't bring myself to just delete it.
Damn it! now I'm pissed at myself for explaining why I didn't delete this. 8)
