SongWar: The Extra-long Fight (The Jig (Is Up))

Alright, after all my griping about longer fights, I'm starting a side fight. This fight will work exactly like a regular fight in every way. A title will be posted, there will be a deadline, we will get to vote. The only difference is that the fight will be three weeks long.

In addition, it isn't going to even start until January, after the holidays and the GoM, and any other side projects currently in the works. This also gives people a chance to get collaborations together, make plans for some special thing you've wanted to try out, etc.

The dates of the fight will be

JANUARY 10 - JANUARY 31

Here's your chance to finally do that collaboration you've been meaning to do. Get hold of those people you've wanted to try out a song with. If you have a band that meets on an irregular basis, this is your chance to do a song with them. Do you have a plug-in you've wanted to try out but haven't learned how to use yet? Have you wanted to write an 8-minute song?

A person of inestimable quality and integrity will be choosing the title. (No, it is not Madi, nor is it me.)

Of course, you can still submit a song you wrote and recorded the night before the deadline. But it is encouraged that you spend extra time on it. That's the whole point of the longer time frame.

Multiple submissions are OK! As long as each submission is from a different band name. Some people may have more than one collab they've been wanting to do.

Please post here if you're in so I'll know how much interest there is going to be.

Submissions will be self-hosted. Send the link to jkoseattle@comcast.net. I can put together a web page for them, or if someone else wants to, feel free to volunteer.

Dude, is Madi your daughter? Man, it'd be cool to involve your kid in the process, because kids have such great, unfiltered ideas, none the less...

Count me in.

Um, Leaf, you remember, "Madi, Songwriter Age 8"?

Why yes I do. That's why I thought, the first time, because I already knew that, that she could create a great title.... why all the fuss?

Leaf, I know there's still a month and a half left in the year but I'd like to take this opportunity to give you the Faux Pas of the Year award. Congrats.

Not his fault. In my childlike, naive innocence I didn't even notice the potential for misinterpretation. It's all fixed now.

man... I'm not sure where all y'all are going with this..... a perfectly innocent comment is being blown, blown WAY out of proportion.

You think I'd made some rude. obtuse innuendo or something.

It is more fun to make other people look silly than to make oneself look silly.

And the winner for the best editing of a Faux Pas in 2004 is.....

I'll be interested in this sidefight when it comes along.
I'm pretty wrapped up in writing a novel (see the NaNoWriMo thread, or http://www.nanowrimo.org) right now, but come January, I'll be ready for this.

Leaf thought Madi was wife, not spawn.

Leaf then made inappropriate connection between code name for the person who dreams up titles and assumed wife.

It's all better now.

The songfight equivalent of Bohemian Rhapsody. Interesting.

Okay, put me on the list.

*ahem*

back on topic.

I *MIGHT* do this... especially now that I understand that this thing will be in January.

I don't know what is going to happen between now and then that will allot me more time... but something has just got to give.

Drink/Drank/Drunk and/or Glenn Case and the Halfracks will do it. Hopefully both.

I'm interested, but can't commit seeing as it's months away :)
January's probably a good time for it, though.

I would like to suggest you change the name of this to "LongFight!".

That is all.

Good one Jim. Nice to hear that you'll be competing and that this all takes place in the new year after the christmas madness. I'm in and since HC has already chimed in his two cents, Leaf his, maybe it might be a good time to do a Redcar song again. Either or I'm in regardless. Just bought myself a cool stereo mic for work that I'll be dying to use in the New Year (that and maybe some other Xmas toys that Santa might bring for the tripmeister - maybe the UAD-1 Pro pack - *drool*). 8)

Maybe you should call this fight "When We Were But Are No Longer". :P
