Song Fight Live, 2007 - August 16-18 - Atlanta, GA USA

That's right, I'm gonna see about getting a venue for Thursday too. Start buyin' those bus tickets, y'all.
And you are hereby invited to my birthday party, August 21, if you wish to stick around 'til then. Otherwise, giving me my presents the weekend before is perfectly acceptable.
To be included (if all pans out):
* One afternoon acoustic set, because that was kind of cool in Boston.
* A few "symposia" on songwriting and recording topics, conducted by SF intelligentsia like Starfinger and Frankie Big Face. Volunteers welcome, apply by PM, make suggestions for topics in this thread.
* At least two evening concerts, Fri and Sat, hopefully one on Thursday too if enough people want to come. I'd like to give us all as much chance to play as possible. One or more of these will be in a public place where non-songfighters will see you.
* Lots of drunken revelry.
Instruments and PA will be provided, but if you need something weird you're on your own.

Dude! An easy 8 hour drive from Orlando! Am so there!
Not so much to perform, but to enjoy the gathering and help out if I can.

I hear that Bundaburg rum makes a great gift but I don't think it's available in my area. I'll have to find something different to bring with me.

Looks like I should be able to be at this one, finally. I actually think I might drive down from here.... we'll see.
Yes, I'll bring my own weird things, but less than at SFPA, that was unwieldy.

I might be able to make it. It'd be pretty great if I could, but I'm not getting my hopes up yet. We'll see.

Spud says that Puce is hereby drafted to give a seminar on production at Song Fight Live 2007.
So, therefore, Puce is ordered to get his little butt on a plane. It's in the nation's interest. Bring the whole Cow Exchange with you.

Previously, on an internet chat session:
Glenn: I don't know when Mostly Harmless will ride again, but I think they will.

Glenn: Funny note: I typed out the "Mostly Harmless" part BEFORE reading that post!
Puce!: oh jeeze. Don't they know that all they have to do to make me appear is say my name three times?
Glenn: *makes note*
Glenn: BEETLEPUCE!
Glenn: BEETLEPUCE!

I'll give a seminar!
It'll be on... Hm.
Hrm.
Ah!
How to be happy despite writing really boring/bland/normal songs and only getting a few votes! We can all hold hands and sway and have group hugs and sing AABB arranged songs and maybe we will even learn how to play a Dmaj7(!!!) and then we'll all make and eat some s'mores and oh my gosh it will be so great.
(So not kidding, guys)

my proposed informative seminar:
How to Drink to Excess and Not Wake Up Hungover!
it will have to be in the afternoon as i'll be sleeping off my hangover.
it will cover such sound nuggets of wisdom as......
"Hydration - Water is your Friend"
"5 Easy Ways to Make the Bed Stop Spinning"
"Beer Goggles and Bedmates - Be Prepared"
"Discreet Vomiting in Public Places"

I’ll jump on the bandwagon then.
Mine would be:
How to record drunken music while actually being sober
Some of the topics would include:
-Do NOT over practice; it only makes you sound like you know what you’re doing.
-While recording, a maximum of 2 takes is all you need, anymore is a killer.
-While recording, forgetting the lyrics, and making up something that’s close enough to the actual word, is close enough.
-If you’re using a dictionary while writing lyrics, you’re trying too hard!
-Repeating the title of the song 10 times is an acceptable chorus.
-Beat? Who needs it? You have emotions.
-Plus lots and lost more..

I will film an instructional video, and you will project it onto a screen so that I may share my wisdoms from across the country. It will rule total ass.

I've been wondering, why haven't you organized an E-band from this site? With your writing and vox, and the killer drummers, bass players, guitar players, etc, you really could.

Jeff Fal and I will do a session on the proper techniques for drunken rock yelling. I can also add in a mini session on between song rambling.
Heidi and I are REALLY hoping we'll be able to make it this year. As always, it totally depends on my production schedule for the summer, and I won't know about that for several more months. That being said, we will do everything in our power to make it to the dirty souf.

Octothorpe is starting our fund-raising drive right now. As a first measure, we have reduced the prices on all our CDs from $10 to $8, in an effort to push sales. <a href="

Look for more hot deals coming soon, including the long-awaited Octothorpe Songbook.

Oh well. We have a tradition...if school's out, leave the country. I doubt I'll be around for this. But I'll cling to the last shred of hope until it's past. Just to see all the attendees who don't perform.

I would happily volunteer to be Exhibit "A" for this presentation,
though the probability at this point in time of my attending is looking very low.
EDIT:
BTW - this is Caravan Ray who has foolishly logged on using the wrong screen name
