Hmm, maybe the roll call thread is dying already... I'm up a little early today, but it's weird that nobody else has started it yet... just remember, folks, if Rone wins the pool, it's because we didn't post...

I see my Paris cover got used, mainly by virtue of being the only one submitted. Since the new title is based on a comic strip, cover art may already be taken care of... if not, I'll try harder this week. WWNMTB seems like a title I oughta be working with musically, too.

Plans for the day: mom's pool class and lunch at Macayo's (Mexican restaurant, sort of gringo-ized, but a Phoenix tradition for 60+ years). Maybe call the GM dealer and see if I can get the Suburban in to have the OnStar upgraded to digital (we got an "upgrade or die" letter; end of '07, if you're not digital, you get OffStar). Dinner tonight, Italian Sausage in TJ's Cacciatore simmer sauce with some Roma tomatoes that need to be used up. "Idol" tonight and tape NCIS (or vice versa, "Idol" goes really fast if you zip through the filler). Go Jordin!

It is now official that I will be going on a trip that I have been planning for a year. The results of this trip will be a measure of relaxation that I have desperately needed, my first plane trip in an eon (unless my Chicago trip happens before this one) and something musically cool.

My big plan for the day is to train the interns on how to do parts of my job. Yawn. Doing training sessions are ok but these are bright kids that I'm training. It should only take 10 minutes but if I do it in only ten minutes, the supervisors will think I undertrained them so I will have to drag it into a thirty minute session by mollycoddling them through the whole process.

And now, I'm desperately seeking some rock to start off the day. I think I'm gonna seek out that new Marilyn Manson song.

I was going to start this thread at 1:30am when the baby woke up. But I decided I'd probably make little sense .

Work. It's busy today. Still uninspired by the Nur Ein title. And the new SF title leaves me flat as well. Especially the optional challenge. I mean, if there's already been an opera written for it, my contribution would seem pretty unnecessary. *shrug*

More coffee will change everything.

I didn't go to work today so I wasn't up at such a ridiculous hour. I got to wake up at 9:30 this morning. Spencer has to go in for his Early Childhood Screening today to start kindergarten in the fall, so I'm going to stay home with the baby while Phil takes him to the test thing. Spencer is always more at ease in "stressful" situations when he is with Phil.

I hear the baby waking up. I'm gonna make her breakfast before I go get her so she won't cry at all when she comes down stairs, she'll just get what she wants right away.

I don't want the Roll Call thread to die... sorry I was still asleep. Thank you for starting it Charles!

It won't die. We can keep this going. It's far easier than the Song-a-day thing that Glenn, Bill, Rachael, Andy, Roymond and I do.

In other news, I found a bassist for my project of mystery to go along with my mysterious guitarist. If I can find just the right drummer, this should be fun.

I have also realized just how close I am to 2000 posts. I find that fact both insane and wonderful. It's a testament to both my boredom, my desire to do music, my love of this community and how great the people are here.

So far today i have

a) heard a very good SF song (Db Collective's '...Paris' entry). Listened to it 5 times in a row.
b) Decided not to pay £45 (near enough 70USD) to see Devo play London even though I love Devo and have never seen them live.
c) Tried to come to terms with the fact that for the first time ever last night I saw an Edward Albee play that was rubbish. (The Lady From Dubuque. A two act play to which the first act is all but superfluous. Second act funny but cleverly skirting round the fact it had nothing to say.) i have always considered Albee to be a genius. this play came as a big shock to me.
d)Been reminded, in my reply above to Jim Tyrell, that either my humour does not translate onto this net we call inter, or i don't have a sense of humour.
e)wrote a great lyric for a song but got stuck on a rhyme for 'it' that worked.
f)oh yeah, done this work thing as well. But now I can go home! Huzzah!

hey, if you haven't flown in a while, do read up on the stupid new fluids restrictions and remember the plastic baggy and 3 oz rules from tsa. was just talking today to a friend who hadn't researched it and had to toss all his stuff and then got searched extra to boot.

After the debacle that is Killed by Spiders, my band that has just had the worst luck EVER; it feels good to have a new musical project started. Even being at the starting gates is enough to get the muse going. And it also brings with it the most ridiculous part of any musical endeavour, naming it. Band names are such wonderfully queer things.

Woke up today to find that the popup map of Atlanta I ordered had arrived. Lots of perpendicular roads. Looks a bit like Milton Keynes. I hope the "Coke Museum" is what I hope it is.

I saw Devo play in Brisbane about 5 or 6 years ago at a Livid Festival. The $AUD120 (near enough 75EUR) I paid then was worth it.

Well, you all already know what I did!

Tonight I get to use a hand held circular saw to cut some 6 foot by 6 foot faces out of some giant lexan. Then put some green on 'em.
And make some window graphics.
And some other junks.

You know what's good, even though it should, by all rationality and think-um-bouts be terrible?

A gas station reuben sandwich.

OH- And spencer's screening went extremely well, with two exceptions.
1. His left ear was a little sluggish on the hearing test, but they are temporarily chalking that up to his current, seemingly unshakable cold. He'll get it re-checked when school starts. (I myself have recently found out that my right ear hears at about 85% compared to my left. I don't yet know what to pin it on, but I'm sure it's my fault.)
2. Some little girl was so intent on not sharing a toy at the screening joint that she actually PUNCHED SPENCER IN THE NOSE! BLOOD! That was, like, right when we got there. But it's cool, 'cause he was able to show off his quick bounce-back time & gentle, caring father. heh.

We agreed that she will likely be attending "Jerk School," along with a kid who didn't share well at the library a couple months ago.

Later in the Wal-Mart parking lot, a woman took a space i was CLEARLY waiting for, and spencer and i decided she was probably the teacher at jerk school.

I worked on recording songs for the Half Racks CD tonight, and it's coming along fairly well now.

I am particularly happy with the 5 part harmony for "Take a Pill". <a href="http://www.glenncase.com/demos/5-part-tap.mp3">Here's a sample of the vocals by themselves.</a>

Of course, upon listening to that, I HATE the lead vocal and I'll probably have to re-do it. I plan on being VERY picky with this CD. Not a perfectionist, mind you, but VERY picky.

I'm planning on working on this all week. The Half Racks know approximately 24 songs, we're going to record all of them, and we'll probably pick the best 12 for the CD.
