28 Weeks Later

Awful. I had heard people say it was better than the first, but it's just a painfully typical shock-fest zombie flick. They even used a helicopter a la Grindhouse to chop up a field of zombies, what the hell is that? The first movie's focus was brilliant, exploring the horror that lies in human behavior to apocalyptic events with some manner of subtlety, this one was just rubbing your face into the guts of a slaughtered animal and shouting at you. Total bullshit.

Sounds great.

[DVD extra - Alternate ending: Are you sure you weren't just listening to your SF entry this week, Luke?]

Well, no idiot backed my SF entry with a multi-million dollar budget.

I would imagine the Grindhouse similarity is a coincidence, as they must have both been shooting at the same time. I like the scene here better than Rodriguez's anyway.

I think this is still the best movie of the summer so far, although with those lame-ass threequels, that's not saying much.
