The Song Fight Bulletin Board

Good Morning everybody! I've been awake for awhile, but trying to snooze on the couch while Spencer ate breakfast and played. But, now Allison is up, so there's no way I'm sleeping now!

Last night I watched more season one Ally McBeal and then listened to a story on npr. Phil and I then got into a pretty heated discussion about it. He was trying to explain how he felt about it but I got hung up on one little thing he said, and we went back and forth for a long time! It was great! I haven't gotten that riled up about an issue for quite a while! It was so nice to use my brain again. Turns out we both agree, we just come at it from slightly different angles.

Today Phil needs to figure out how to fix the lawn mower. Our lawn looks awful! It didn't get mowed last weekend due to broken mower. Our next door neighbors are retired and have a meticulous yard. They must hate that we don't keep our yard nice. But, they're cool because they don't mind when Phil plays his drums in the basement.

Today I declare housework day. I have Spencer dusting and he also wants to vacuum! Allison helped me pick up all of the platic food from their play kitchen.

What was your favorite candy as a kid?

I really liked Nerds (I grew up in the early 80's), Now n' Laters, Jolly Ranchers, PB Max, anything with peanut butter. This is still true today, although I've moved away the from the hard candy and fruity flavors. I'm way more into choclate and dark chocolate.

You know what new candy is great? Kissables. They are little Hershey Kisses with a candy coating. The dark choclate ones are the best!

When I was a kid, I was pretty good at picking favorites. For instance, I was a HUGE fan of 5th Avenue bars! Man, those were good. Also Whatchamacallits. I don't even know if those are around anymore.

I've got a full day
I need to make a few stops before I can lock myself in the music room
Life keeps yanking me out of "the zone"
It's hard to dive deep with a full house
But one must set his priorities
Every time I have to re-enter "the zone" it takes about an hour
No one here understands how that works
Nor should they, it's my problem
The gift of music in my head is a blessing and a curse
Ahh, whatcha gunna do?
It's going to be a beautiful weekend
The waves were perfect this morning
I am re-energized.
Now it's time to spend some of that hard earned energy
The mental bills are piling up

My favorite candy as a kid?
I'd put Jolly Ranchers at the top of the list. grape, lemon, apple and cherry FTW.
But I loved my gum, Bubble Yum, original, grape or apple FTW!
As far as a candy bar, my top would be 3 Musketeer
But Reese's peanut butter cups are up there too
I still love candy to this day, and sweets in general
I'll stop whatever I'm doing for a piece of cheese cake or chocolate cake
The only thing I don't like and never have, is anything gummy
Gummy bears, gummy worms, gummy yuck
I do like those crazy sour things every so often, but not the gummy ones.

Listening to Samhain instead of being at work. Apparently almost throwing up in front of children = I get to listen to evil music and watch House in my undies. My favorite candy is Big League Chew.

AT my other job today...it's cool, instead of working the over nights they have been giving me 1-9 shifts on Saturday & Sunday. I can still go out on Friday Night and sleep in two days a week. (AND traffic is generally slow on the weekends so they are pretty easy shifts)

Nothing beats a good snickers bar. Back then just the same as now.

(I have an ice cream problem...I need professional help, but thats not exactly in the candy category)

Today I'm watching bad movies and "studying for the SATs". Tonight I'll be going to the fair at the horse show and riding on the ferris wheel and eating cotton candy and pretending I'm in some 1950s American high school tv show/movie. It's gonna be fun.

As for the candy... I love fruit gums and fruit pastilles from the UK. And of course, a Galaxy bar is never bad. But in the US Buncha Crunch or Nerds is where it's at. (Nerds rope is way good).

They are! I still get one from time to time.

Just back from Nur Ein guest vocalist session and ear shattering jam. I am spent and look forward to some nice quiet low volume laziness.

I too liked those Whatchamacallits. Twix, Charelston Chew. Starburst..those were all fun. I used to like the old penny candy stores too. Favorite candy: Mountain Bars. Haven't had one in years, but I think they still exist.

Laundry day, working on that. Went and bought foam pads and cloth to make new mattresses for the back of our Suburban for when we do a driving trip through Colorado this summer. Did a little websurfing and emailing to try to learn about licensing music to use for CDs of a school band to sell to parents. That sorta stuff.

"A Hard Day's Night" was on Flix last night. I may be the only person around here who thinks they started going downhill with Sgt. Pepper, but, man that early stuff brings back memories. I'd been thinking about just sitting down and listening to the soundtrack, and then there was the movie on TV!
