I used the word "dreamy" in a post, and it was censored somehow.
I don't understand.
(in case it gets censored again, the word in question is d r e a my)

Oh dear.
Elias Aqaurius, let's see if I can sum up the tale for you with as much brevity as possible. There's this songfighter named Mo. He's in Duboce Triangle and Sonofsupercar. Well, one day he had an irc conversation with Glenn Case regarding if he's dreamy or not. Glenn let it spread to the board and the infamous poll Is Mo Dreamy? was born. After much hilarity ensued, the joke grew larger with the creation of Songfight supergroup Dreamy Mo and the commoners (see "Dinga Da Donga" and "I Don't Like Eggplant"). Then in a final master stroke of funniness, jb made dreamy a censored word on the forums, leading me to mention dreamy in vibrant colors.
And now you know and knowing is half the battle.

Every board has its own weird censorings and/or curse-substitutions. We won't let you mention wikipedia either, which'll probably surprise you. BUT WE HAVE GOOD REASON.

you are also not allowed to say [CENSORED] or [CENSORED] or [CENSORED] but that's only because [CENSORED] has a [CENSORED] in his [CENSORED].

Who the hell is
Beat Happening? I say we change the wikipedia article for "dreamy" to just be a picture of Mo. Who's with me?

No, you should look into Beat Happening because they were a pretty awesome band.

We do not speak of this band as it is a tarnish to my professional reputation. This band broke up on uncertain terms and you will be hearing from my lawyers. Cease and Desist the use of this collective's name in public or suffer the consequences.

You think that's bad, Hoblit, wait until Behind The Music: dreamy Mo and the Commoners comes out.

i can't believe there's essentially a thread about that thread. it's so ickily metadiscursive (but then again, what isn't?) that i may need to have hot chocolate and homemade brownies.
ultimately, the moral of the story is never openly disagree with glenn case, because he'll put it all over the internet to your everlasting humiliation.
normally this is the point in the post where i randomly quote some movie, but my head hurts from being in post for the last week or so, so all i can think of is the bit in sweeney todd when HBC first tries to feed JD the worst pies in London.
lame.

i doubt it. i'm too busy making horrible chinese tv shows at the moment. on the other hand, i do have a drummer now and am actively looking for either a guitarist or bass player (i'd do the other one).
i figure it doesn't matter how bad we are as long as there's a hot chyk singer anyway.
i have been teaching my nephew to play guitar though. he's picking it up pretty quickly!

Several years ago I lived in Kiribati where there is no television. We were friends with some Chinese doctors who had a TV and videos of Chinese variety shows. Some of the song and dance numbers on those shows were among the most gut-bustingly funny things I have ever seen in my life.

We need Mo to ring in and say he's okay after what happened in China there. (I admit, I don't know my geography, and the 'quake probably missed him by many miles, but still.) Mo? For our peace of mind, give us an 'I'm okay' or something.
Thanks.

i still hate all of you muchly.
seriously though, in shanghai the quake was a 5.something and really you could only feel it if you were high up in a skyscraper. the reporting on it here has been really fucked up, as no media were allowed to broadcast any news on the earthquake until it was a) approved by the government and b) first reported by CCTV, the central govt tv station. basically, we were all trying to get news off the internet message boards. sichuan province is completely fucked; the breadbasket of china is more or less a pile of rubble. not much to do out here but donate blood and money to the red cross.
