damn, bewells. that is a great song. it sounds a lot like Essex Green, that kind of 60s pop/elephant 6 sound. sound more like this all the time, Andy. Lindsay sounds great on it too.

All songs sound good, but holly molly does that Billy Little Trip tune sound's good! It’s like The Talking Heads on steroids or something... great fucking tune! My all-time favorite BLT song.

So, is Frankie Big Face the first person to actually take the "I-am-not-going-to-enter-a-song-because-I-am-immune-and-I-am-a big-girl's-blouse" option?

HaHa, thanks Dre. Although I enjoy it too, I was a little worried about how it would be received. I'm not sure what to call it, so I'm going with punk funk, but acid should be in there somewhere. Maybe acid pfunk?
I love to get dirty and groove, so it was a lot of fun.

Yep.

(There was no need to reply to the post, other than to repeat my favorite insult in the world- big girl's blouse. How did that insult come about? It's so ridiculous yet reeks of insult).

HaHaHa!!!! Big girls blouse. I think I just peed a little.

At least he didn't call him a "sheila" , a "pink fluffy curtain", or a "handbag"...because that would make me really upset.

Besides, you know y'all would take that immunity in a heart beat. (except Puce, but we all know he is an exception to most rules, and has super powers.)

So FBF, I hope you enjoyed your week off!

Reviews - By Jolly Roger

Abominonimous - With Heather in there, this sounds a lot like a lighter Hell Yeahs tune. It's cool to hear those one word harmonic vocals like at 1:00 there (the word cure). The trade off vocals get a bit tiring for me, but the cheerleader chants spelling out 's-t-a-t-e etc' are pretty cool.

Bewells - As soon as the vocals come in, I just know that I'm going to like this one. You guys use really cool chord progressions and interesting vocal harmonies, which puts you up in my books. Your production is pretty stellar too. One problem - it's a bit tough to tell what you're saying - the female needs to pronounce her words a bit better, but at least you all sing on key. You may want to tighten up the vocal timing a bit more so that it kind of sounds like it's all one person who sings multiple notes at once - I had problems like this when I was getting people to record my doo-wa-dops in my song, so I know it's tough. Overall, I'd say it's a pretty great song (the keys are really cool - just noticed those!)

BLT - The vocals are cool, but I honestly can't handle them for too long - some of the harmonies are a bit painful too. I love your bass sound, I love your drum sound, and I love the funkiness of it all. I really like the guitar solo - I wish I could have creative solos like that. You guys have a pretty cool sound, and I would really like the song if the vocals had a coherent tune in more than just the chorus.

The Bovine Recyclery - I really like how you don't take yourself too seriously - which is sweet considering how you're a top competitor here. Your mixing is great. The vocals are dead on, and the trade-off vocals are dead on and not hard to listen to like a few of the past ones. What else can I say - this song is radio-worthy. There's no advice I can give here.

Jim Tyrell - I always hated country, but I like this tune. I don't think it really sticks out for me, but it's better than a few of the others. I can't really think of much advice for this style, since it's not really my thing. Pretty good.

Jolly Roger - I think this is my best song to date. No lies. It's about a peasant who gets his village owned by the king's army. I hope y'all like it, and maybe it'll keep me in for the next round.

Merisan - You guys make such beautiful music together. It's hard to rate this one, since it doesn't really hold my attention, but it's a really good song to relax with. The chorus deal at 3:08 is so cool that I just have to put this near the top of my list.

Paco Del Stinko - Your guitar-work is really good, dude. I'm not a huge fan of three note vocal songs, so the vocal tune is not doing it for me, but that bridge is cool. Good, but not my fav.

Puce - I sort of wish you'd sing less through the nose, but who am I to say that? Chorus is rad, verses are rad - really natural way to fit in the title there. Pretty good.

Ross Durand - YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAH SMALLTOWN!!! That's bonus points right there. I always get a kick out of SM's vocals. Top notch song here, dude. I like that riff there - well done. I'm gonna have to place this one pretty high.

Steve Durand - It's good to have one of your songs with a guest vocalist, since your music is tight, but your voice usually has some issues. I like it, especially the verses. I probably like the verses more than the chorus, which is probably a first for me.

Tex Beaumont - Honestly, I think you are underrated - just because everybody knows what Caravan Ray sounds like, they shove you to the side, but the reality here is that this song is top notch. It's funny, has good vocals, the classic oohs, Genghis Khan etc.. Good. Really good.

Thank Glenny 4 the Frisbee - Is that steel guitar or something? Whatever it is, that's kind of annoying. Aside from that obnoxious sliding whatever it is, I don't mind the song - it's just not my favorite. Sorry.

WreckdoM - You guys always crack me up, but I wish you'd stay away from that drum machine, especially since I think you guys could rock pretty hard. That fast siren in the chorus is doing a similar thing to me as that steel guitar deal was doing for me in TG4TF. It's just distracting and obnoxious. I was hoping for a bit better from you guys, especially with how much I liked your Let Me In entry.

Firstly, if you find yourself near the bottom of the list, that doesn't mean that you are bad. It just means that I didn't like your song as much as the rest. This is just too good of a lineup for me to number them up easily. They were all pretty good, and in a normal SongFight review, I would have rated them all well.

We love the Big Face von Frankie. I laughed at his link. He is a creative man.

I'm not really sure what any of them mean...I just watch a bit of the old BBC and I like Aussie films. I guess I've been collecting insults as a result. Even if I tried to use them, no one would know what I was saying!

Okay, listen up people! It seems my character is being called into question over the immunity issue. Please look at the following timeline of my recent life:
  • Monday, May 21 - song title is announced with original deadline of May 27.
Monday, May 21 - conducted evening concert at work
Tuesday, May 22 - free night - made dinner for my wife
Wednesday, May 23 - conducted music demonstrations at five elementary schools all day long.
Thursday, May 24 - conducted another evening concert at work
Friday, May 25 - conducted two daytime concerts at work, packed for weekend trip
Saturday, May 26 - traveled to Atlanta to visit JB and watch the Braves get swept by the Phillies :P
Sunday, May 27 - dealt with severe allergy attack from killer Atlanta pollen, slept through extremely long and dull Pirates of the Caribbean movie
Monday, May 28 - traveled home from Atlanta, unpacked, continued dealing with mutant pollen
Tuesday, May 29 - went to work
So yeah, I took the immunity and I'd do it again. In fact, I plan to in Round 5!

I'm trying to do a SaveAs on the stream all .m3u file (so I can turn it into an .rss file and let juice download all the songs for me), and for some reason, it's not saving the file on my machine. Usually that works fine.

Anybody else having problems with the stream all .m3u file?

Thanks,
Charles

Frankie, I raise my glass (currently full of a Bully Hill white wine) to you. It's immunity, dammit. You shouldn't have to make excuses for it.

I thought the .txt file was pretty funny, too.

Frankie had immunity and still submitted a cool entry - what's the big deal? Good crop of songs but my early fave is probably Abomb.

Hey! I resemble that remark.
