My dad and I went to see this tonight, and it was super good. We didn't see the last five minutes* but I presume those were just as super good. The design, specifically with the 'baddie', is just goooorgeous. It had a nice enough balance between kiddie humor and adult humor(Little Chef, hon hon!), and the plot wasn't totally see-through which is an awesome change from kids movies nowadays.

Plus the little teaser for Wall-E looks super good, as does 'Enchanted'(which is the perfect movie for any girls that grew up and went through the Disney princess phase)

But yeah, it was really good. I can't think of anything that I really didn't like about it.

I quite want to see this one - I've been pumped for it ever since I saw the trailer.

ps: Bjam, did you at least get to see the bit where the critic tastes the food? One of my favorite bits, and the way he reacted totally reminded me of "Yakitate! Japan" (read: strange anime about baking bread)

Yeah, we did. The seizure happened just after the critic had his flashback, so we didn't get to see the very end. It really is a great/fun movie, and I have no issue with paying another $9.50 to see it again

David Schwimmer and Spence, how can it not be good? Haven't seen it yet. But I will come back here when it's out on rent. ....oh...I'll be back, yeah!

I really want to see this movie. I've been following the official movie podcast (only available via iTunes) and every new post just makes me want to see it more. I really should get around to it.

It came out yesterday in Calgary. I love it. All good things said above are true. I love the spot where all of the cardboard chefs start talking in their accents - when the Scottish guy says 'haggis', I just cracked up. Not many other people were laughing, but I'm guessing not many of the kids would understand what haggis is.

As for the content of the film, I was amazed. It seems a lot deeper than previous Disney/Pixar efforts - a lot of great stuff about breaking down stereotypical barriers. The animation was breathtaking - I love it when the rats get struck by lightning - there hasn't been hair animation done that well as far as I know. And when the rat was on the roof, looking out at Paris, I was just blown away. I also like how the animators are making an effort to keep animation as cartoony as possible - especially with the humans. The natural impulse with animation is to try to make it look as realistic as possible - I have so much more respect for animators who stick to making it look a bit 'cartoony' - it makes the show so much more fun to watch.

I give it an A+.

I saw it tonight, after reading this thread and deciding to see it over Knocked Up. I loved it. I have not recently felt as good as I did after that movie was over. It did everything I would expect from a cutsie animated film, and much more. The adult humor is really funny, the characters are quite impressive, and many of the plot subtleties develop the movie into much more than a Good Guy vs. Bad Guy thing that most 'kids' movies turn out to be.

I hate letter grades because I hate grades because I suck at school but it seems to be the common thread here so: A

We had rad fun today seeing this. The only minus is the romance thread...it's not like this is "Mostly Martha" or anything. But very very good flick. Yeah. The animation is awesome and the "acting" very solid.

So normally I'm all like fuck this computer animation shit, but we had family movie night on the last everyoneistogetherontdaybreaknight, so we watched a movie. My mom was depressed so we watched what she wanted to watch.

This was actually pretty enjoyable. Some parts could've been a little less sentimental, but overall I liked this.

The ads made the main character look really annoying (visually), but he wasn't as bad as they made him seem. I think they just took his worst facial expressions and used those in the ads. I can't hate a fellow big-nose.
