Hi All,

Well, it's almost December, and every year I try to write a Hannukah tune or two, but I rarely complete them. Perhaps adding a deadline will help me get to work. The past few years I've also put together Hannukah compilation CDs for my family and friends. So to combine the two, I challenge you to write an original Hannukah song or record a cover of a classic. Songs will be due on the first night of Hannukah, 12/7/04 and voting will continue through the eight nights, concluding 12/14/04. I will provide a prize for the winning entry. Please PM me with a link to your entry by sundown on 12/7/04.

Let me know if I can help in any way.

Be well,
Ken

I'd much rather record an original Hannukah song than cover one, but can you suggest what would be considered a "classic Hannukah song", so that I can get a feel for how into Hannukah they delve? I know the dreidel song, and that's about it.

Well, I win by default I guess. Here's my song, a traditional tune called Hanairot Halalu.

Also, check out this fun Hannukah Hey Yah video:

Sounds good. Probably be even better if I knew understood what you were saying.

I totally missed this. Maybe you just needed to advertise it more?

Very interesting... coming from someone who knows nothing about 'Hannukah.' For one, it's spelled 'Chanukah' on my Calendar, what's up with that??

Happy Hannukah to Ken & anyone else celebrating today!!!

Well, it started last night. I never got the lack of normalized spelling either, I mean for better adoption you've got to apply standards. We lit the candle last night and the boys got new HESS trucks with race motorcycles.

I like to spell it "::clears throat::anukah".

There's a few different ways of applying the transliteration, but that applies to pretty much every language which uses a totally different character set. Look at Chinese for an extreme example.
