hi there.

I'm Robert, and I record as Gurdonark.

I am a big believer in Creative Commons and netlabels, and co-own the netlabel http://www.negativesoundinstitute.com. I am a big believer in sharing culture, new ways to experience music, and collaborations. I use a lot of shareware and freeware, as well as a a little commercial-ware and an analog instrument or two, to make my recordings.

My music is often on the fringes of ambient, noise, and chill, and hence the term "weirdbient" applies. But I dislike being too narrowly genre-bound.

I'm released here and there on netlabels, including in particular
http://www.disfish.com. I also do a lot of remxing over at http://www.ccmixter.org, which is a community I enjoy.

One of the mixters who is also one of the http://www.remixfight.orgfellows, MC Jack in the Box, turned me on to that site. That site turned me on to tihs site.

My first song here is "That's what she said".

I'm pleased to read of such a cool community here.

cool. ambient, noise, and chill sounds good - but note that many of the people here DEMAND vocals :) not necessarily me, mind you...
welcome!

I figured that vocals would pretty much be required, which appealed to me, because I so rarely record them well, though I love to sing.

I'm much more apt to use a spoken word or field recordings as samples instead of a sung track--but I did make an exception lately for a
track about animal adoption, one of my favorite causes:

I'm eager to work on recording better sung vocals, and using these fights as a good place to work on that.

Not that I ever mind instrumentals, myself--I find they are pretty idea-intense in their own way.

Always good to see you, Jack--new song creation is just too much fun to pass up.

Good sounds, although I think that some more elements or changes should have happened halfway through in the musical elements.

It might benefit from more variation.

Cats certainly deserve the exposure--they deserve more adoptions, too!

I'm sorry, but allowing cats to adopt is just plain wrong. They have no sense of responsibility and barely earn enough to support themselves.
