today I'm driving from Las Vegas to Los Angeles, specifically Burbank, and hanging out with prayformojo for a couple days while my friend has an interview. going out to the Getty, going to see one of those Kwik-E-Mart 7-11s, um... maybe go to the Largo for some comedy... taquerias... sushi... mmm. I'm not sure what else I want to do. Just poke my head around and see what I can see. Buying some LPs would be fun. I have some cute nephews here in Vegas, whom I'll post pictures of sometime.

QOTD: Favorite imported beverage? I think I have to go with Red Stripe, beating out Pacifico, Heineken, and Franziskaner Hefe-Weisse.

Today is "Let's paint the bedroom in 94F/34C heat!" It should be, uh, fun.

I just finished re-recording what I think are the last tracks for my CD. It's going to have its faults, and they're gonna drive me nuts every time I listen to it, but it's as good as I can get it.

Now it's off to my parents' house for Chinese food, and then out to the Branch Brook Campground for a show with Bob King.

QotD: Guinness. Although I had some that a friend transported across the pond personally, and I have to say it was much better than the stuff that gets imported through Canada. Word is, they import it as a concentrate, and they un-concentrate (reconstitute? I'm bad with words today) it over here.

So I got a phone call at 7:00 a.m. today that our worship leader was calling in sick and could I cover for him at the 9:00 a.m. service. All of which was complicated by the fact that I was picking my mom up at about 8:30, so I wouldn't actually BE there 'til about 20 minutes before showtime...

It was ragged, but we made it through. The regular leader has a pretty high vocal range, so I've had to down-key some of the songs we do, which means I have my own set of chord charts to play from (otherwise, by the end of the service, my voice is shot). FWIW, my keys are also keys that untrained singers (i.e., the congregation) can handle, but that doesn't seem to be important to the current regieme.

I've been working on recording guy & guitar demos of all 63 of the songs in our current songbook, just so I have something to listen to when I have to step in and can't remember how the songs go. Just a few more to go...

Watched most of the British F1 GP, made lunch and did various prep stuff at my mom's and am heading back home soon. The Mrs. must've stopped for the night somewhere on the way back from California, haven't heard from her yet, but that was sorta the plan.

I have a liquor store near me that is famous for his import beers including his own beer that he brews using family recipes. He's German and he often takes trips to Europe and other places in the world and works deals to get beer imported that doesn't have a distributor here in the States.
Anyway, I love trying local brews often and anytime I go on vacation, I'll try the local brews.
As far as imports, my most recent fav is a beer called "Stella Artois". It's a Belgium pilsner lager that's imported by Beck's from what I'm told. My favorites change throughout the year for some reason. Different weather and attitude seems to change my taste buds. I think Stella Artois is a Christmas beer, but it seems to be a good summer beer for me.

I think my fave is Boddingtons. Mmmmm. Maybe I'll go get one right now! So Creeeeeaaaamy. And you have to love the bee logo.

Day started real early today. A drunk totaled Mrs. Rabid's parked truck at 3am, and really, there's nothing quite like waking up and finding that in one's front yard.

qotd: does jagermeister count as a beverage? i love me some jagermeister. though i don't really drink it so much as occasionally do a shot. there are many great imported beers and wines that i drink regularly. bohemia, negro modelo, guinness, louis jadot boujeolais, evian (ha ha just kidding)

Man, it really irritates me when they do that. Very alienating to the congregation - "hey, look, you're gonna not sing or you're gonna sound like crap, but we don't care!" I like to sing in church. My dodgy voice is lost in the crowd

Stella Artois is much better from the tap than the bottle.

roymond, if you think food on the road sucks, try food on the road when you're lactose intolerant, I couldn't eat anything on that stinking train except pretzels

Today I will say Smithwick's but there are so many. e.g. too many great wines to pick only one.
