Who are some big names in Memphis Blues? Wikipediuh lists people who started out in Memphis but they don't seem to have the same style to me.

Muddy Waters is from there. He had the sickest name ever. I wish my name was Muddy.

Well I hate to admit, I spoke from (fuzzy) memory without checking my facts.

I was thinking of people like Mamie Smith, and Bessie Smith.

But after actually looking it up on wikipedia, it doesn't look like either of those has much to do with Memphis, so I have to say I don't know.

Whoops.

Btw, I'm back in. I figure that even though I'm going to be performing my song at SFL in a couple of days, I don't want to gamble on the recording situation there, so I'd better go ahead and record it at home.

mc_wino lyrics

mc_wino - I saw the lyrics you posted in the lyrics section, and I like them, but what do they have to do with Memphis? Is it about a fire in Memphis or some natural disaster?

Yup, my tune's coming along. Might be my best guy'n'guitar tune. The extra few days should help me get a good overall take. It's already helped encourage me to improve the weaker portions. It's really being honed more than I usually do. But, I don't want to have to splice together from multiple takes, especially since I'm not playing to a metrognome. Ugggg I hate it when those little guys come out from the subways. :|

EDIT: ha ha! I just noticed that I hit over 300 posts! Yippie!

back in the late 1800's there was a yellow fever epidemic in Memphis that caused a huge percent of the city to leave... it was carried by mosquitoes and apparently killed a bunch of people.

Well, there are still three days left on this fight, and so out of pure boredom, I think I'll throw something together by Monday. I actually had a good tune in my head this morning getting ready for work. I'll see if I can do something with it by Monday.

how many guitar solo's are too much in a song? I don't know when to stop shredding.
Oh so sweet yet oh so miserable..
It felt so good to finally clear the air - as I spilled my guts.
The guilt fades away - as I spill your guts.

When you ask someone to hear them all and they say, "Ok, the quality of the song is starting to suffer because of it". Sometimes, you can have a dozen of solos and it still work (ala Don't Fear The Reaper).

Nope, just anti-guitar-solos. I think it's very safe to say the two are not related.

Blondie - Looks like we got someone that fancies himself to be a sheriff. Tell me law-boy, catch anyone in tights today? Or maybe you're wearing them, eh? Sometimes a man has to be a man and show what he's got by taking a solo. No need to overdo it though. Sometimes they even sound pretty...in a man-ish sorta way.

Angel Eyes - I think you're right Blondie. Looks like this gentleman has been hiding in a dank castle somewhere listening to too much blip bloop music. He must'nt understand rock and roll at all, or even music. Even Beethoven took solos um, before he went deaf.

Tuco - Wass dees? No guitar solo? You no like the flamenco or what, Robin Hood? Wellll, dats alright...I can still make you dance! BANG! BANG! Dance! Ta-ha-ha-ha-ha! BANG!BANG! Ees all the same anyway...but you don like solos shut up and not take one, eh?

How many apostrophes are too much (sic) in a plural? I don't know when to stop caring.

Well, I likes me a good guitar solo but like any other solo or musical part it shouldn't be too overdone...or something. What thread is this anyway? If it's the Memphis pre-fight, it looks as though I will be submitting my first regular fight entry since February. Complete with one very short, yup, guitar solo! Yee-haw!
Bringin' the stink since 2006.
