qotd: its not a matter of what as much as it's a matter of who. Ok, it's a matter of what.

DRC: I'm at the day job. And tonight I'm hosting an open mic in Waterville Valley.
QotD: This seems a little redundant. But I've got an answer for ya. I'm putting more serious thought into the idea of doing a 'tour'. Perhaps in October I can take a week and play a few places between here and, say, DC. It would be next June before I could do anything longer than that.

I'm waiting for the movers, who were 90 minutes late, to pack my shit up. Apparently they aren't terribly fond of going quickly. I guess i'll be starting on the road much later than I thought. Ugh.

I'm trying nightly to get my sleeping patterns back on track, but it just ain't happening.
I'm also thinking about this U2 tribute band I saw the other night at Red Rocks. I've never seen a tribute band, and it's a very strange thing. On the one hand, it's cool to hear the songs played live (and with appropriately thundering bass), but then there's the constant irritation at "Bono" fumbling around trying to get every little stage movement right. And tripping.

I'm at work, getting more thermal grease on my hands then on CPU's. I friggen hate thermal grease.

If you're getting thermal grease on your hands, you're doing it wrong. just put a little dab on the CPU and spread it out with a credit card.

and then get thermal grease all over my credit card? no thanks. I put some on the cpu and put my finger in a plastic bag and spread it around... works fine now. but i still hate thermal grease.

Well, by 'credit card' I meant 'credit-card sized piece of plastic which you keep around for the purpose of spreading thermal grease.' But I was replying from my cellphone which isn't exactly easy to type with. (I'm back on my laptop now as it seems the movers are going to take much longer than I expected. Hooray.)

So, is this "tour" a step towards broadening your musical career?...Or is it just a thinly disguised scheme to get away from the kids for a week?
In the non-musical world, we call them "conferences".

That's so totally right, haha.
I'm in Brussels watching this awesome office building outside our hotel change colors. Like, the whole thing is a big glass lightshow from the inside out. My son's flipping out "this is so cool". He's right, it is.
We viewed the Van Eich alterpiece in Gent the other day, and the Michealangelo Madonna and Child in Brugge today. Once we got to Brussels we hit the Grand Place and ate too many waffles. Every member of my family has a waffle iron. Brussels is like waffle heaven. It was good. They make the best waffles here. Book your flights now.

The Roll Call has gotten too weird for me. In the meantime, I'm going to see Frontalot at the High Dive tonight in Seattle.

I have reached Chicago, the last stop on my post songfight live jaunt around this weird country. It's pi**ing it down like a weekend in the west country. I'm hungry. I need an umbrella.
