Konichiwa Songfighters. Roll Call!
I just came off of a wonderful weekend that included a birthday party for my boys which included a soundtrack of their choosing (which included things like Weird Al, FLOW, Cyndi Lauper, Nirvana...), much playing of the Wii and lots of fun had by all. Today, I'm trying to get back into the flow of things at the job after a wacky Friday and a weekend of fun. I'm also futily trying the whole find musicians thing which was much easier back in college. Now, at almost 30 and working with lawyers, it's a much harder task. But anything you want you must work for. This is the work part.
QotD:
(Okay, many of you will find this a weird question but I do really wonder about this)
Do you feel you have a strong vocabulary? And if you do, do you use it to its fullest?

Back at work. My shoulder is killing me. Another couple days of this and my stubbornness might actually wear off, and I'll call a doctor.
Sounds like a fun party, Niveous. Wii and Weird Al. Not too far from what the kids and I did this weekend, really.
QotD: From time to time I will get accused of trying to convince people that I'm smart by using big words. I'm usually blindsided - and always aggravated - by this accusation, because I really just talk in my normal conversational way. As a result, I often find myself in situations where I just say as little as possible, which makes people assume I'm standoffish. You can't win.

I don't have any full cd recommendations. But I must say that, I have heard a lot of FLOW singles and liked every one.

cool Niveous. The Funeral Dazies (this weird band I'm playing bass for) played a Birthday Party last night. (I won a 'zombie dress up' contest and won a gift certificate for a tattoo) We jammed and had a blast.
Anyways, QOTD: I am don't necessarily talk good most time. As to say I don't necessarily have a wide range of vocabulary. ALTHOUGH... I use specific words a lot of the time...and this has caused huge problems with girls I've dated. I'll say EXACTLY what I meant or tried to communicate, however, they'll relate it to a 'general phrase'. This creates a problem because when whatever it is they think I said and what I actually said aren't the same thing. They accuse me of purposely deceiving them.

Um, I don't know if this is the place, but good lord. The seas are getting pretty rough. I thought you got took all the shit when you showed up, and it steadily disappeared from there. It seems like it's getting worse. I don't know if there's actually any difference; it just seems like people were fairly nice about the horrible song, and whatever I was posting, and now I'm taking crap for everything I do. I don't know if that's actually true. But it feels like it either way. Perhaps certain people are reviewing that weren't before, or they're coming back to the party on other threads. I don't know if it's any worse, but it's starting to get to me. Obviously, I don't have to respond to criticism, but I tend to want to, at least when I think it's completely invalid, but I'm not going to be taunted into it. To tie that in to the QOTD, I think that perhaps I used to have an impressive vocabulary, but it's diminished with time. I never thought I threw around too many big words, though I have been accused of it. In any case, whatever the quality of my words, I suppose I do seem to produce a large quantity of them. And I'm taking shit for it? What's the big deal? It doesn't take you half as long to read it as it takes me to write. Sorry my post took twenty seconds to read instead of the five you're used to. Christ, what's going on?

Lord of Oats,
Are you talking about that Introductions thread. If so, don't sweat that. Go about your business as usual.
If you are referring to the self-referrential statement thing in the Pre-fight thread, people really don't like self-referrential statements. Even Front took some crap for Romantic Cheapskate back in the day.

No big vocabulary. But I got to use the word nefarious yesterday. Uh, yeah.

It's all been contributing. It seems like I can't get away from it. It's not really ever one thing; it's everything, and then one thing sets it off. The thing that probably set it off was jackfrost's review of my last entry. Like, okay, let's not only point out non-existent problems, but let's make personal attacks on the artist. What the hell is an argumentum ad hominem dealing with my behavior on the forum doing in a review of my work? What am I supposed to do with that?

Pick one:
1) Change your behavior.
2) Prove him right.
3) Not care.

Well, some would say the song is exactly half of songfight, and the other half shouldn't surprise you.
It's easy for the discourse here to become discouraging, especially if one is of the misconception that this is a community focused on artistic support and development. Some people approach it in this way, but it's certainly not the default. Before too long, though, I think you begin to key in on who/what matter to you here, and if there's enough of it, you stick around.
It's definitely good to remember that opinions posted here are just that, and that there's no guarantee of any one of them being worth a thing. Including this one.
Keep yer chin up.

I'm all excited. This is my last week of full time work before I move to a part-time position within the company. It will leave me to persue the freelance career I put on hold, and focus on some other projects and stuff.
QOTD: I certainly seem to have a larger range then most of those around me. Or at least, I use it. I do enjoy slipping word play and complex words into everyday speaking. I can't spell for shit, though.

QotD: I believe I am usually able to express what I need to, in both personal and professional life. It ain't fancy and I don't speak no Latin. I am more concerned these days about being able to relate to history and current events, than to master a huge vocabulary, and perhaps they sort of go hand in hand. So with traveling, reading books and chatting endlessly with you bigots I hope I'm extending my horizons

Present.
QOTD:
Yes, quite. Indubitably.

Arguing with Mrs. Del Stinko?
QOTD:
Just enough to be dangerous.
