Good news! Yesterday marked another milestone in SongFightLove history. prayformojo and LadyPFM are getting married. Five years or so ago, they met on SomeSongs.
QOTD: Good wedding songs?
If I ever get married, I will try to convince my bride that our wedding and reception should only include songs from 69 Love Songs.

Hey, exciting! Congrats to them!
For our wedding I was put on music-selection duty. This is from a post that I made on
my song-a-day livejournal:
Dixie Cups: "Chapel of Love" (entrance song)
Gordon Lightfoot: "Beautiful" (first dance)
Louis Armstrong: "What a Wonderful World" (parents dance)
Mary Chapin Carpenter: "Grow Old with Me" (anniversary dance)
Grey Eye Glances: "Kind of Love"
Cowboy Junkies: "Anniversary Song"
Beatles: "When I'm 64" (cake cutting)
The Temptations: "My Girl"
Spiral Starecase: "More Today than Yesterday"
The 5th Dimension: "Wedding Bell Blues"
Glenn Miller: "In the Mood"
Bina Mistry: "Hot Hot Hot"
Depeche Mode: "Just Can't Get Enough"
Sumosonic: "Everything is Wonderful"
Van Morrison: "Brown Eyed Girl"
Peter Gabriel: "In Your Eyes"
Not Drowning Waving: "Spark"
Beatles: "All You Need is Love"
10000 Maniacs: "These Are Days"
Over the Rhine: "Rhapsodie"
Elvis Presley: "Can't Help Falling in Love" (last dance)
Dollar Bill & the Inkpoints: "Lemurs" (special wedding song by Me, J$, & Starfinger)
These are reception songs only... the wedding itself was in a church, so performed music only.

Wow, congrats to the happy couple!
Roll call: I'm playing at Shooter's in Belmont tonight. I don't have any other shows this weekend. On Sunday I think the family is gonna go to a nearby farm and explore their Corn Maze. Fun!
QotD: Wedding songs. Hmm. Back in '93, my wife and I danced to
this at our wedding.

In my office fantasy basketball league, one of my co-workers somehow got a team that includes: Dwyane Wade, Allen Iverson, Vince Carter, Stephen Jackson, Jermaine O'Neal and Ben Wallace. That's criminal.

That almost seems dangerous considering Merrit's sarcasm in some of the songs. But not really. He writes beautiful songs. You should include "It's Only Time" off of "I."

Yay! That's so awesome. I am ashamed to admit that I immediately recognized the gazebo from "The Gilmore Girls", though. But otherwise, great news.
PS Thanks for the nod, Niv.

And of course, my
Honeymoon In Polynesia was also inspired by your wedding.
At my wedding, we had:
She's My Best Friend (Velvet Underground) - Bridal entrance
Hug My Back (Weddings, Parties, Anything) and Rock & Roll All Nite (Kiss) - Bridal waltz
The Lonely Bull (Herb Alpert and his Tijuana Brass) - Bride/Groom enter reception
I'm Sticking With You (Velvet Underground) - Cake cutting
I don't really remember a last dance, but I think it was Smells Like Teen Spirit
We were married at
Tropical Fruit World, a fruit-based theme park on the Gold Coast in Queensland. Back then they used to have a dude in a foam rubber avocado suit called
Avocado Man who was the park mascot. We so wanted Avocado Man to perform the service, but apparently a dude in a foam-rubber suit doesn't necessarily have the legal power to perform weddings, and our JP wouldn't wear the suit...so...bugger.
But I digress..
Congratulations Mojo and Mrs Mojo!

Thats awesome news...I'm glad they got through their rough times.
Song: Love Stinks. (was a great hit at the reception in The Wedding Singer!)
One of my old kitchen managers (great guy) got married and their song was 'You say it best when you say nothing at all' by Allison Krauss. That is a great song.
Personally... back once when I was in love... although I never got married and hadn't even considered a wedding song... I felt a song that was a bond between me and my girl of that time:
The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face - Kingston Trio's studio version.
To this day it takes me back to that time and place in Atlanta when I was deeply in love with that girl. A particular moment burned into my memory that I doubt will ever fade completely away. Lets call it a scar because in the end, thats kind of what it is.

Also, congrats, Chris and Breidi! (did you see what I just did there?) Last time I heard from PFM, things were stormy, glad you two worked it out. Now, MAKE SOME BABIES.

I didn't know them because I squeezed my way into SF after they stopped hanging around.
But congrats none the less. Oh, true love is grand.

I am starting out my show with "Bad Attraction" by PFM dedicated to the happy couple! (um... not the most appropriate song, but...) Best of luck to Heidi and Chris, congratulations to them; I had the wonnerful opportunity to spend a couple days with them back in July, and what a couple of hosts. Oh yeah!

It would seem that I am once again in the position of 'saving everything' at work, and holy crap is that tiring. Just once I'd like to be able to do future development which DOESN'T suddenly become The Thing That Will Save The Project So Please See How Soon You Can Get It Done.
Due to my extreme tiredness I didn't go out to dinner with my mom (who is in town), nor did I go to the concert Ken was performing in (sorry, Ken). Tomorrow night I also have a social obligation at my sister's place. Ugh. And the first two hours is just "family time," due to my mom being in town. Which means two hours of just my mom, sister, and brother-in-law.
At least my mom and I get along pretty well these days, and she understands how batshit insane my sister's gotten.

That is a great comments thread on somesongs, and I'm one of those people who fucking hates couples. So good job. It's funny and cute. I don't even care.
